Introduction to the Malton Carabinieri

Faithful throughout the Ages

The Malton Carabinieri is a new survivor group based in the Northeastern section of Malton, specifically in the suburbs of Pescodside and Dulston. It is composed of a group of Italian Carabinieri officers who had remarkably unfortunate timing with regards to their international delegation to the Malton Police Department. Said officers were not able to escape before the quarantine was imposed, and despite several vigorous protests from the Italian government, they have not been allowed to leave the city. They have thus decided to make the best of their situation, roaming throughout the city raiding Italian grocery stores and chewing cannolis. They have recently tired of wandering around, and seek to establish a permanent home in the suburbs of Pescodside and Dulston.

It should be noted that a significant portion of the Malton Carabinieri originates from the 4Chan /a/ and /int/ boards.


Priorities of the Malton Carabinieri, in order of importance.

1: To defend our designated home territory and to keep its resource buildings repaired, barricaded, powered, and safe from zombie incursions for members of the Carabinieri, its allies, and the local survivor population and provide them with quality Italian cuisine.

2: To acquire allies, so long as it does not draw us into needless wars and to maintain a revive point for the beleaguered citizens of Northeast Malton.

3. To -slowly- expand our numbers and thus the territory that we can adequately defend from the zombie hordes.

Policy on PKers and Bounty Hunters, and GKers, RKers, and Death Cultists

The Malton Carabinieri's policy on PKers is more or less tolerant. We will not go out of our way to injure or otherwise impede PKers unless they deliberately assault a Carabinieri officer without provocation or reason, or are found assaulting other survivors in the very small number of buildings that the Carabinieri considers its home and has declared as safe-zones for itself,its allies, and the local survivor population. These same rules also apply to Bounty Hunters. Allies of the Malton Carabinieri, for the sake of friendship, are exempt from punishments and will be aided so long as they follow the proper reporting procedures.

Allied PKing Policy

The Carabinieri, after holding a vote on the issue, has decided to, in the interests of diplomacy and friendly relations, allow allies of the Carabinieri to PK within the designated home territories without punishment provided that they

(1)Provide adequate reasons for the PK, preferrably via speech at the time of the incident, if within Carabinieri home-territory as defined by the operational map distributed to them(not secondary or tertiary objectives, which are open to PKing without restriction) Adequate reasons include retribution for GKing, RKing, PKIng, Zombie Spying, and currently ongoing wars.

(2) Take a screenshot of the kill, and post it under this wiki's discussion page. This is for archival purposes, or if a killed PK member wishes to dispute the reason they were killed and request punishment.


One might ask what would happen if two allied groups go to war with eachother. What would the Carabinieri do? We would simply heal and revive both sides so long as they are within our home territories while petitioning both groups to leave our home to settle their score. We would like to eat our cannolis without bullets flying through the air, if possible.


General PKing Policy

Punishments for PKing

With the exception of the above, these are the following punishments that the Carabinieri will impose upon non-allied members found PKing:

PKing a Carabinieri Officer

PKing a Carabinieri Officer will result in being banned from revives and healing for a period of three days, in addition to being a free target for any member of the Carabinieri and its allies. This does stack, so if you kill two Carabinieri officers, you are eligible to be killed twice and will be banned from revives and healing for six days.

PKing a Non-Carabinieri Member

PKing a non-Carabinieri member will result in being banned from revives and healing for a period of three days, but this does not stack , but each time an incident is reported occuring within Carabinieri-designated safezones, this ban is reset.


Note: The above is a general policy, subject to change due to diplomacy. Allies of the Carabinieri are given much more leeway, as are those who actually communicate with us.

Members of the fake Cobra have clearly signaled their intentions of hostility towards us by killing more than a few of our relatively defenseless CMOs and CCEs today, and as such they are now to be killed on sight by any Carabinieri Officer. They are exempt from the normal PKer rules as defined in this wiki article and may be killed by anyone, as many times as they wish, without retribution, and they will not be revived or in any way aided by Carabinieri Officers.

Political Viewpoints

The Malton Carabinieri does not wish to get involved in any of the larger political battles of Urban Dead. We simply wish to secure our small section of Malton and to keep it safe and sound for survivors, as well as providing them with the pleasures of Italian drink, food, and entertainment, and we seek to acquire as many allegiances as possible in order to aid us in doing so. If you find one of these to be particularly distressing or a cause for concern, simply notify us and we will be glad to talk with you.


Current and Past Operations

Operation: Risorgimento June 15th, 2011-Present

Operation Risorgimento is the current operation of the Carabinieri. It involves the continued defense the Carabinieri's base of operations, assisting the newer members in leveling, and launching assaults into Northern Dulston in support of our friends in the Dulston Alliance,the Burchell Arms Regulars, and other survivor groups. It has been quite a learning experience for the Carabinieri command staff, as they are beginning to learn their lessons in the ways of larger-scale Urban Dead warfare. They have in particular learned the importance of an effective logistics system for sustained operations.


Operation: Evening Storm: May 25th, 2011-June 15th, 2011

Operation Evening Storm was the initial operation of the Carabinieri. It involved mostly those in the CPO category as the group started out small with about five to six members. Its objective was to find a suitable home for the Carabinieri. After several adventures throughout Southeast Dulston that ended in disaster as various zombie hordes rampaged through the area killing everything in their path, the group shambled up towards the North in hopes of better prospects. After being revived by the kind-hearted South Paynerton Aces, the group rested in Dunningwood for some time. Finally, after picking out a location in Southeast Dulston/Northeast Pescodside, they launched their strike late in the evening and managed to succeed in procuring their objectives, after which they began eagerly campaigning for people to join to acquire manpower for further operations.

Diplomatic Information: Treaties and Allies

Current Diplomatic Operations:

In our first official diplomatic treaty, we are now in a Non-Aggression Pact with the Dulston Alliance. All members of the DA and its allies are welcome to swing by our area for some fine wine, pasta, and cannolis!

In our second diplomatic treaty, we are now in a Non-Aggression Pact with the Burchell Arm's Regulars. May this signal the start of a long and prosperous friendship.

The Types of Carabinieri Officers

Now that one knows a little more about us, one may be wondering how we divide responsibilities and organize our merry little band. The following are the three divisions of Carabinieri Officers, their duties, and responsibilities. Note that these are general responsibilities, and depending upon the situation, one may be called upon to do something that is not strictly their responsibility. The structure of Carabinieri reflects its goals and being a relatively static and defense-oriented group, the majority of our roles are defense-oriented.

Carabinieri Patrol Officer (CPO)

A Carabinieri Patrol Officer(CPO) is the primary offensive unit of the Carabinieri. They are well-acquainted with firearms and other sources of weaponry and their objective is, simply, to deal with any zombie break-ins and clear buildings so that the rest of the Carabinieri can get on with their respective tasks. They are also responsible for enforcing the tranquility of the safe zones to ensure that no firefights break out between survivors and that no Death Cultists or GKers infiltrate them. They are required to carry large amounts of weapons and ammunition on them at all times, and it is advised that they also carry a radio with them to listen to important announcements or cries for help from survivors, as well as one or two first aid kits.

In response to demand and to better accommodate our Deep Operations strategy, we are now allowing a second type of CPO fficer, a (CAPO), or a Carabinieri Axe Patrol Officer. Officers in this category wield an axe, a toolbox, a few FAKs, fuel cans, and a radio, and are intended to act as part of the second holding or reserve Echelon, following in the wake of the heavy-hitting attacks by CPOs, mopping up and securing additional buildings and assisting the CCEs in fortification operations.

Carabinieri Medical Officer(CMO)

A Carabinieri Medical Officer(CMO) is one of the two defensive units of the Carabinieri. They are well-versed in the arts of medicine and are equipped with a large amount of FAKs and Revivification Syringes. Their tasks are to provide medical assistance for CPOs, CCEs, and local survivors, as well as maintain the planned RP. They are discouraged from carrying weapons (apart from an axe) and construction materials since combat and repairing buildings is not their prerogative and most of their AP should be spent on revives and healing or acquiring the materials to do so. They are authorized to preform Combat Revives should situation be untenable and CPOs are unavailable or an unable to deal with a threat or if their life is endangered. The Malton Carabinieri does not encourage Combat Revives by CMOs outside of the designated safe-zones or in a non-life threatening situation and disciplinary action may be taken if such is discovered occuring. The sole exception to this is if one has indicated, through their profile, that they wished to be revived and just happen to be in an area where the Carabinieri are working.

Carabinieri Construction Engineer

A Carabinieri Construction Engineer(CCE) is one of the two defensive units of the Carabinieri. They are knowledgeable with regards to building construction and the installation of generators, radios, and how to properly arrange barricades. Their goal is to keep the safe-zones well supplied, powered, and barricaded as well as to restore various buildings. Most of their inventory should be related to the above tasks, although a Fire Axe is allowed for personal defense if necessary, and a FAK or two in the event they are infected.

Operational Tactics

The Malton Carabinieri's Combat Tactics can best be described as a mixture between A Defense-in-Depth Strategy and a Deep Operations Strategy, and generally operates as follows:

The Importance of Combined Arms in the Malton Carabinieri : The Malton Carabinieri places a high value on what is known as combined-arms operations. That is, in simpler terms, having the CPOs work in close conjunction with the CMOs and CCEs in order to carry out a single tactical or strategic objective. It is an integral part of achieving the goals of the Carabinieri and securing safe-zones for survivors.

Stage 1:

General Defense Strategy:Defense-in-Depth Strategy: The Malton Carabinieri realizes that its manpower, especially those capable of offensive actions, is limited. Allies and local survivors can not always be relied upon to form a single, unbreakable defensive line to defeat all threats. Yet at the same time, the Carabinieri does not wish to be driven from suburb to suburb, eeking out a meager existance and hoping the next Zombie horde doesn't slaughter everyone. Therefore the Malton Carabinieri has adopted the military defense strategy of Defense-in-Depth, to suit its defense-oriented needs. This involves a significant amount of pre-planning, barricade strafing, scouting, counterattacks and falling back to prepared positions, with the end goal being that zombies will have to spend a significant amount of time and effort, far more than survivors, to totally rout the Carabinieri, and to eventually move on to better pastures. Defense-in-Depth planning might alter the current MC Objective Map distributed to allies and members, and said allies will be notified if such a change is necessary.

General Offensive Strategy: Deep Operations Strategy:

The outcome in modern war will be attained not through the physical destruction of the opponent but rather through a succession of developing manoeuvres that will aim at inducing him to see his ability to comply further with his operational goals. The effect of this mental state leads to operational shock or system paralysis, and ultimately to the disintegration of his operational system. The success of the operational manoeuvre is attained through all-arms combat (combined arms) at the tactical level, and by combining a frontal holding force with a mobile column to penetrate the opponent's depth at the operational level. The element of depth is a dominant factor in the conduct of deep operations both in the offensive and defensive.

The Carabinieri's Offensive Doctrine is based around that of Soviet Deep Operations, namely, the use of multiple simultaneous, coordinated breakthroughs supported by an initial assault and holding force, followed by mobile reserve forces assisting with the breakthrough and using the time bought by the holding force to secure positions that the zombies have left undefended, thereby widening the front and forcing the zombies to either adopt a Defense-in-Depth Strategy along a large front, which is much harder for them to implement since they cannot barricade nor gain any benefit from pre-planned positions, or to have to assault our own Defense-in-Depth Strategy, which is enormously costly AP-Wise for them for little reward.

Platoons and Squads

The Malton Carabinieri's forces are divided into two commands, the Northern and Southern Guard Platoons, or simply the Northern and Southern Guards. They each have their own responsibilities, but these may shift according to the orders of the Commandante General. For example, if faced with a large number of zeds in the area covered by the Northern Guard, the Commandante might ask the 2nd Squad of the Southern Guards to assist. One squad will always be stationed at the Carabinieri Headquarters barring orders otherwise.

The Northern Guard:The Northern Guard's responsibilities are to secure the Carabinieri's Northern border with Dulston, assist local survivors, and patrol the suburb to provide accurate, day-to-day status updates on the suburb to be distributed to the Commandante Generale and fellow survivor groups.

Strength: 20 Officers (excluding Honorary Officers)
