You open the notebook and flip through the pages, sometimes tearing the wet paper. All the maps seem to have strange, schematic precision, the blocks and peculiar colouring––and you come across one map that catches interest.
The letters on the map, confirmed by the legend, mark all the memorable locations, all those memorable to you with the exclusion of those not. It is weird, but there are a few letters and coloured areas you have never been, and this is only one map; there are others in the notebook that seem to have no bearing anywhere you know. You see Latrobe, and you see Crew Avenue, where you found Totes, were rescued by Volker and then lead somewhere with the end eventually being right here: but you have no idea where here is exactly. You are not sure where you are, though you cannot be far from Crew Avenue, and not therefore not far from Latrobe; and surely you are somewhere in that tan coloured area. If you could find a landmark, maybe get up high somewhere, you could probably spot Latrobe. You feel a slight bit of nostalgia, by the way, looking at little icons, remarking to yourself how lovely and wonderful it was to have been there. |
