Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."

Description

An imposing metal-and-glass building with revolving doors. Built in the 1990s with heavy donations from Lord Pitman, of Quarlesbank. Named for Saint Ansgar, Apostle of the North, who spread Christianity to the North, the hospital was billed as spreading life to the northern suburb of Dakerstown, heretofore served only by Saint Bartholomew's hospital. For some reason, Lord Pitman forwent having his name enshrined in any wing of the hospital, though rumors persist of an exclusive lab facility in the west wing. Investigation of that wing by survivors has found nothing.

History

8/6/10

Now home to the St. Ansgar's Medical Staff, the hospital is now home to a handful of survivors, which is more to say than when the hospital was re-built. It is somewhat peaceful, a recent zed attack is currently being repelled, and a new generator is required.

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

A new arrival to the suburb, Frankie Sinatra has set up a new generator in St. Ansgar's, fueled it and is ready to give heals to any survivor that might stumble in.

8/07/12 Hospital is safe, at VSB++ and lights are on inside. 5+ survivors on the inside.

Barricade Policy

The barricade policy for St. Ansgar's has come into question. If the barricades are too high, low level survivors cannot enter. If they are too low, we run the risk of break-in and destruction of our equipment and we put our staff in unnecessary danger.

However, according to the Dakerstown Barricade Plan, Saint Ansgar's Hospital should be very securely barricaded.
