It's demise began in 1963, the movers and shakers had begun to get into the latest fad - Poodles - and of course their prize pooches had to be walked. It started with just the odd dog being walked up and down the promenade (doing it's business...), eventually everyone was walking their dogs there! This is where the trouble started, to begin with, all the owners cleared up after their hounds when they left some mess, but as with anything some didn't bother and so by the time of the outbreak you didn't dare go walking there at night.
Local residents coined the nickname 'Chitty Walk' after the famous Mr Chitty and his Chitty Cinema and Chitty Hotel as it seemed apt that something that was once so beautiful could become so 'Chitty'.
Please note:- This is one of the last places in the world you can actually see 'WHITE' dog poo.
