Mapping of West Borehamwood is going along well. I've continued scouting into the countryside area, but haven't found the end of it yet. But a few interesting things: There is a road running through vertically it 10E from the WB edge, and it extends North further than the northern limit of WB.
Ok we've got a lot of countryside to the west, then presumedly the suburbs of Radlett and Elstree. I propose that for the minimap we just ignore the countryside. Then since Radlett is apparently very small, we'll include the surrounding countryside in its map.--[[User:Zolt|Zolt]] 3:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Where to post scouting info for it? I haven't found that mythical Elmstree area.
::Souns less good to me, now that I better understand Radlett. Hopefully someone can map out Elstree a bit better. Maybe it's actually southwest of WBH. In which case The "suburb" west of WBH is really just Countryside and that's all. I'm thinking the whole city is going to end up looking something like an X, with Borehamwood in the middle, outlying hamlets in the four corners, and countryside in the blank spaces N, S, E & W. That's just a guess though :) [[User:Balfa|Balfa]] 15:58, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

==Naming whilst mapping==
By and large there will be no location pages for individual locations (that is specific named places rather than generic buildings such as "a factory") in Borehamwood yet.
If our intrepid mappers could please check their links after they update their entries, if their link is blue (i.e. live) then chances are that it's a name already used by a place in Malton. As per wiki naming conventions the link should be altered.
For example, The Shiel Building is in both Malton and West Borehamwood.
The link <nowiki>[[The Shiel Building]]</nowiki> directs a user to [[The Shiel Building]] in Malton.
The Borehamwood link should be rendered as <nowiki>[[The Shiel Building (Borehamwood)|The Shiel Building]]</nowiki> which will be a red (i.e. dead) link until the page is created, for example [[The Shiel Building (Borehamwood)|The Shiel Building]].
In time disambiguation pages will need to be made to allow users to find the two locations from one search, and utilising these naming conventions now will allow us to find them easier to perform these tasks.
Doing this helps the newbies find where there are, especially players who have come aboard with this new promotion and may not yet be familiar with Malton.
Cross posting this to all Borehamwood suburb talk pages so that everyone sees it.

Coordinates

It's not clear if the suburb boundaries match up with previous Malton suburbs, or if the walking map from udWidget is correctly reporting current coordinates as having had a chance now to walk around a bit, the current mapped buildings don't appear to be on the border of the suburb. Currently out of AP but will revisit the map shortly --Bigmaddrongo

I can almost definitively say that this suburb exceeds 10x10. I know the NE corner is Cresley Square. From my wanderings, the railway line is 8W of there. The scrap of map already here shows at least 3 more columns in that direction, giving a minimum east-west width of 12. -- Maunder 00:57, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Alas, if I only had mad editing skillz, I would add more blocks to the West Borehamwood suburb map. I mapped out in Excel an 11x14 area without hitting any of the blocks that were originally on the suburb map. I added what I could (Scanes Lane & below) before hitting the limits of the 10x10 template. If someone sets it up as 20x20 or something similar, I can fill out much more, but I don't know how to create a map other than the 10x10 format. --Lewarcher 02:26, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm making a 24x33 template but it's a bitch to edit. Have no skillz either, making it up as I go along. --Zolt 12:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Naming whilst mapping

By and large there will be no location pages for individual locations (that is specific named places rather than generic buildings such as "a factory") in Borehamwood yet.

If our intrepid mappers could please check their links after they update their entries, if their link is blue (i.e. live) then chances are that it's a name already used by a place in Malton. As per wiki naming conventions the link should be altered.

For example, The Shiel Building is in both Malton and West Borehamwood.

The link [[The Shiel Building]] directs a user to The Shiel Building in Malton.

The Borehamwood link should be rendered as [[The Shiel Building (Borehamwood)|The Shiel Building]] which will be a red (i.e. dead) link until the page is created, for example The Shiel Building.
