UDGame

I'm a little concerned with how much this could potentially stress the server, Gnome. Surely this issue has already been brought up somewhere else? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 23:31, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't think so, it's not included in anyone's sig so it's not like it's going to break a talk page. :) --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:45, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
I just mean, couldn't this potentially create hundreds of pages that may never be accessed? Surely this can't be a desired thing in the long term. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 10:49, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Disk space = cheap? It's just a page, not thousands of large images uploaded everywhere.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 16:44, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough. But disk space is cheap when Kevan is the one paying for it =[ DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 10:28, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

It looks cool, but space(as above) looks like it would be a problem. Would it be possible to maybe import this directly onto a computer?--Dinare 21:46, 1 June 2009 (BST)

That would be cool if the game could have a personal, autonomous place to exist. It could open up certain technical possibilities. Unfortunately I don't actually know how to program, and even if I did, transferring 2,834 pages of content somewhere else would be very laborious (though maybe ultimately worth it). --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:32, 17 September 2012 (BST)
I think it's better to do so now than in another 2000 pages :P And you say you don't know how to code, but isn't most of your game in HTML? (like most things on the wiki) ;) HTML isn't that hard, all you'll need is the same as here: a basic template for each location and action :) PB&J 21:49, 17 September 2012 (BST)
Ah, well, if I do end up doing that, it won't be anytime soon. Because... I'm busy making the game and not making it! --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:32, 17 September 2012 (BST)
We have thousands of useless group pages and redirects and shitty little side projects in peoples name spaces (not to mention the ones in long gone user's spaces). Gnome's game isn't going to hurt anything, I promise.--SA 00:35, 18 September 2012 (BST)

Definitely, unless Kevan says its a problem, I wouldn't worry about it. And if it does become a problem, just Export the pages to another wiki dedicated to this game (anyone could make it). Now that'll stress the server for a bit. A ZOMBIE ANT 00:59, 18 September 2012 (BST)
Or maybe the server of the importing wiki will be stressed. I can't remember anymore. A ZOMBIE ANT 00:59, 18 September 2012 (BST)
Well, that would depend on how he goes about it. --SA 01:01, 18 September 2012 (BST)

(A wiki all to myself?) The only reason I'd move the game (without being required to) is to get some fancy new features that work like I want them to (like inputbox-like functions). --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 02:33, 18 September 2012 (BST)
Yes, the Gnomewiki. A ZOMBIE ANT 05:11, 18 September 2012 (BST)
You'd have to do what Iwitness did to stress the server, which is make a page for every submission, do it for 3 years, and have it be a tool so damn popular you have literally millions of timestamp indexes to sort through to access them before you start running into issues. Same goes with transferring it, it'd be a pain in the ass but it wouldn't have a negative impact from a functionality standpoint. --Karekmaps 2.0?! 08:50, 18 September 2012 (BST)
