You are standing on the roof of the Bartlett Building, a tall grey-stone building with a squared roof. The wind is cool and whistles across the roof-top.

It has been a while since you have looked across this nameless city from height. Nothing has changed because nothing has happened. Then was for a time ago. Now is for nothing.

That is not completely true. Everything is happening in your narrative.

Far in one direction is the thick green of forest; far in a second direction are tall fancy buildings spaced by short boring ones. You can see clearly from here an industrial district, in the third direction. Its warehouses look like heavy, vague blocks, with smoke stacks uneven and gray, which pop out from those blocks in a way too small to fit.

In the fourth direction, in the direction that you think the correct one, you look for something like Latrobe––whatever such a building may look like, and whose description could be in your notebook and that you may or may not have been scoured properly. Yet you are decently certain that you are looking at the right spot and the right building. It does not say anything obvious on it (like "LATROBE") but it does have a sufficiently strange appearance. Its looks make sense; it matches to some idea; it is tall, imposing, and incredibly ugly, the walls precisely vertical and basically windowless, never-mind the ones places as if at random, or an after thought, little squares of glass hiding darkness. At the very top a little green light blinks impotently. In all, it is a high column of concrete, no art given to its design, suggesting a quick layering of walls were added after the floors were finished, and poked with holes because it need just a little light.

Definitely, this is what Latrobe looks like. This is Latrobe. You should go there.
