The Player Hunt of 2008 is a Malton Manhunt endorsed event in which a group of competing players are given the task to hunt down a single player, who leaves cryptic clues as to his whereabouts. The game differs to previous manhunt events, in that the single player is the only player being hunted, and there is less emphasis on the survival aspect, prominent in past manhunts.

Nature of the game

One player will voluntarily be the sole hunted player. They will find hideouts and will periodically give public clues to the contestants as to where they are hiding. It is the job of the contestants to deconstruct these clues and figure out where exactly it is that the player is hiding, and kill him. The first contestant to kill the hunted player wins the match.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will we have to find the player in the whole map of Malton?
Yes, but the player will give clues to make the job much easier.
  • I want to kill everyone! Do I have to wait until I find the hunted player?
Killing other contestants who are in the game is perfectly legal. It heightens your chances of winning anyway, so it is actually encouraged.
  • How much of my characters' time will this take up?
If the player hunt goes for more than a week, then the hunted will reveal his position to the contestants, so the hunt can be ended much sooner.
  • Do I have to be affiliated with the organiser or any group to participate? Do I have to be a PKer ingame?
The Player Hunt is public, and you don't have to be a PKer to join. Anyone is able to join up to the player hunt.
  • Will I get in trouble for killing people in the competition?
If you kill someones in the boundaries of the hunt, you cannot be put onto the Rogues Gallery, or similarly, you will be protected from being added onto team hitlists by the authority of the Manhunt. It is a condition of competing that players recognise that whatever happens in the Manhunts stay in the Manhunts.
  • Where do I sign up?
Sign up at the bottom of this page. You can also sign up for a friend. Later on, you will be required to give your character ID, for the list of competing players.

Date

The Player Hunt will be held sometime in the coming few months, once enough players are assembled. Everyone will be notified well before the hunt starts.
