History

The Coy Museum was the brainchild of the infamous and eccentric Malton neo-realist architect, sociologist and lavatory designer, Mr. Testla Coy.

The museum Coy spent years designing in fact was intended only as a social experiment, its existence simply to document nothing but its own history. By the time of the Zombie outbreak, the museum had only been open for six months. As there was not even enough time for a single exhibit to be completed, much of the museum itself remained vacant.

Oddly enough, the only completed section of the building was a fully stocked gift shop selling trinkets, stationary, and cheap postcards which could be purchased only at outrageous prices. Once Zombie hordes began to overrun Malton, the museum staff defied Coy's orders to stay and quickly fled. However Coy himself chose to stay and defend what he saw as an essential addition to Malton's culture. He managed to live off sweets from the gift shop over the next week, keeping a series of logs about his final days and watching the chaos engulfing his city outside.

Coy apparently began a gruesome spiral into madness by the second week. He obsessively wandered the dark labyrinthe of unfinished exhibit halls, scrawling crude inscriptions onto the floor in blood. When Zombies finally battered down the sturdy oak doors of the Coy Museum, the only trace left of Testla Coy himself was a circular series of jumbled writings left in fresh blood on the tiled ceiling near the entrance.

Mr. Coy's eccentric behaviour has led to several running jokes and rumors about his possible demise, the most popular one among residents of the surrounding subhurbs being that in Coy's final hour, he attempted to stop the attacking Zombies from destroying his beloved museum by distracting them with merchandise from his gift shop. Another interesting story told suggests that Coy, himself now a Zombie, will sometimes appear in the building's lavatories to frighten away those attempting to use them.
