History
Named for St. Simon the Zealot, St. Simon's Church was, in its prime, a rather modest but shining Calvinist place of worship. It was originally constructed in the 1960's by a prominent South African community living in Danversbank at the time. Though attendance at the church floundered by the 1990's, private donations continued to keep it afloat until at last it closed its doors for the final time in 2004.
Less than a year later, the Zombie outbreak devastated Malton. St. Simon's church was the site of a desperate battle fought by retreating military personnel and attacking hordes of undead. The soldiers had already been forced to abandon the Danversbank evacuation points to the Zombies, but several stood their ground in St. Simon's sturdy structure, holding their own with machine guns and grenade launchers until at last even their ammunition was spent. The troops had managed to stave off the advance long enough for many civilians to be evacuated from the roof of the nearby Martha General Hospital before they were overrun and massacred.
To this day, a large metal cross, crudely carved from wood, sits at the altar of the empty building, a simple monument to the bravery of those who had fought and died that others might live.

Current Status
September 30th 2010: The building has been completely ransacked, and has fallen into ruin. Cracks in the ceiling have let the rain in, and rust and rot creep across the damaged surfaces. The floor is flecked with dried blood. The building opens directly onto the street. Nothing else to say...--Gorra Metalera 00:37, 30 September 2010 (GMT-3)
Single zombies break in opportunistically, but the church has been relatively safe for the past week or so. --FT MCI 16:23, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
