You are inside a classroom of Pridmore Way School, a high school. The windows have been covered with sheets to block interior light and movement. Mattresses, cushions, blankets, and dirty fabrics function as sleeping arrangements.
Names have been written across the whiteboard, resembling a guestbook.
- You continue reading.
- 230
- I've been thinking about the note pointing out the zombie at the window, the note I wrote telling someone to do something about it, on 167. Can I ask for the mail carrier's identity?
- 231
- The question is asked. "Who are you? -Maz" And the note is in the mailbox.
- 231
- I try not to scare off the mail carrier, by perching above the mailbox, while waiting throughout the day.'
- 232
- The answer read: "I'm Maz." Fucker.
- 233
- Is there something that only the mail carrier can carry, and no one else? Or something that only the mail carrier can't carry, while everyone else can? Can I mark the mail carrier, and scan the halls?
- 234
- Attempt for a solution. I write another note. "Present yourself to me as you would an item. -Maz" I put the note in the mailbox.
- 236
- The response took an extra day. This has never happened before. It was probably due to the need to come by the dead body I woke up to. It nearly rose before I could strike a knife into its head.
- 237
- The next note is: "Present me to you as if I were your item. -Maz" I put the note in the mailbox.
- 242
- Far too many days, and I never received a response.
- 243
- I put paint that won't come off skin in this unhygienic climate, and it's in the mailbox within a dish.
- 244
- Multiple people walked around with paint on their fingers the next day. The dish and what was left of the paint was on my lap when I woke up. I realize that I can't distinguish between those who deposited mail and those who would distribute it. A silly idea. Paint was on my own fingers, a joke of the mail carrier no doubt.
- 247
- I've spoken of this with my bunk mates, omitting the part about stealing the kidney from one of them. (He has since died.) They've never thought about it much, they say. They propose that I'm the mail carrier.
- 248
- I would not be able to return an item if I were dead. But how would I know? I decide to ask. "Am I the mail carrier? -Maz" I put the note in the mailbox.
- 249
- The response: "There is more than one mail carrier." Of course.
- 252
- Reoccurring breakins have created some disorder. No mail was delivered during this time, no items were returned.
- 253
- Break-ins that don't manage to overrun the place are repelled by those at the break-in. Since mail was not delivered during, but was delivered after, that time, the mail carriers must be one of those people.
- You pause reading. You are not sure where this is going. There is yet more.
Possible actions:
- Continue reading Read the whiteboard Leave the classroom
Inventory:
- You carry a knife; a journal and a notebook; a bloodied radio and a flare gun. You have a shotgun (2), a pistol (12) and three spare magazines inside your vest pouches. You are wearing a tactical vest, blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a pair of shoes.
