One more quick tip, from one copy-editor to another — I encourage you to look into [https://www.oxfordinternationalenglish.com/differences-in-british-and-american-spelling/ differences between US and UK spelling]. I've noticed some of the "corrections" you've made have just been switching UK spelling standard words to US ones ("specialise" to "specialize" and the like). Both standards are acceptable on the wiki, and as Urban Dead is based in the UK, British spellings are specifically accepted. {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 02:31, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Welcome

Hi Auri! I'm just dropping by to welcome you to UDWiki on behalf of Project Welcome! If you have any questions or need any help, you can reach me anytime at my talk page. Have a great day! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 16:26, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! --Auri (talk) 02:41, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Good tip

STEAL CODE EVERYWHERE! - No, really. If you see something you like, steal it. Wiki code is awful. -- SomethingSomething.gif 23:31, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

I don't approve of vandals, especially if one user has been blocked for vandalizing other peoples' user pages. --Auri (talk) 02:40, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
Don't let the door hit you on your way out then. I was just trying to give you a good tip to learning/using the wiki syntax. -- SomethingSomething.gif 09:51, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

One more quick tip, from one copy-editor to another — I encourage you to look into differences between US and UK spelling. I've noticed some of the "corrections" you've made have just been switching UK spelling standard words to US ones ("specialise" to "specialize" and the like). Both standards are acceptable on the wiki, and as Urban Dead is based in the UK, British spellings are specifically accepted. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:31, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Oh no, I meant both are acceptable! So "correcting" US to the UK is just as pointless as "correcting" UK to US on here. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:42, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Editing group pages

Hi Auri! Just wanted to let you know that it's generally not a good idea to edit the group pages for a group you're not in, and don't have permission from that group. I rolled back your edits to Malton Medical Staff/Staff Instructions — are you an MMS member? If so, let me know and I can reimplement the edits. Cheers! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:13, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

I'd encourage you to work on articles that cover buildings, suburbs, strategies, and other aspects of the game that are not owned or controlled by specific users or groups. It's best to avoid group pages/subpages, journals written by specific users, or anything in User: space that isn't your own. If you have questions about specific pages or categories of pages, I can be more specific — you can also reach out to men on Discord, if that's more convenient, at the UDWiki Discord server. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:26, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
Tikhon Medical is a group, btw, so I've again undone your edits to their subpage Tikhon Medical/Operations. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:42, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
One more thing: DON'T edit what someone else has posted and signed with their signature. (Example: changing "Would" to "I would" in my message.) Doing so is considered impersonation and may lead to consequences under the wiki's vandalism policy. Even if someone's message is outrageously incorrect, it's their message and should be left as is. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:52, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Your Dove Windsor page

I also wanted to let you know that I moved your Dove Windsor page to User:Auri/Dove Windsor. Pages on wiki users should go in that user's User: space as subpages, rather than being in Mainspace. If you have any questions, let me know! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:34, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

A question

I am curious as to whether you have played the game or used this wiki previously? If not, what drew you here? stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 03:18, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

You can reply here instead of on my talk page. It'll make more sense when I reply. And tbh, not having played the game means you won't understand how this wiki works. For example, what all the pages mean, how they have been edited in the past, what can and cannot be edited, etc. This isn't like Wikipedia, it's a wiki made specifically for a game that has been community made. stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 03:26, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
@User:Stelar Well, I'll guess that I will learn eventually, through my time being here. Besides, I think Wikipedia is shit. --Auri (Express yourself, be heard!) 03:28, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
I'd also encourage you to try the game! It only takes a few minutes a day and would give you a much better sense of what kinds of content exist on this wiki and why. It'll be very hard to understand without playing; and many people take your relationship to the game into consideration when evaluating for administration roles. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 03:30, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
I was just using Wikipedia as an example of something that is more readily editable by anyone, especially for grammatical errors. This wiki (and any game-based wiki) is likely more complex to someone who has never played the game it's based upon. Are there other wikis you edit as well? Also, what makes you want an admin role on this wiki? stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 03:32, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
@User:Stelar Answer on Bob's talk page. --Auri (Express yourself, be heard!) 03:33, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
I'm not sure I see where you answered that. stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 03:58, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

I'm curious as to why you didn't pick a wiki for something you're actually interested and involved in. You don't play the game and don't seem to have any intent to get involved. Not understanding that means you don't know why things are the way they are. For instance, insulting Jack up above means you didn't pay attention to his contributions to the wiki's content. He had some issues at first, but they were straightened out, as I recall. You also said "The article explains the work that I do on the Urban Dead Wiki. I have to admit, I am quite a legend on here. I hope you don't mind, but I'm making an awesome article." I've been wiki watching for over a decade now and you just showed up. How are you a "legend"? I'm really just wondering where in the heck you're coming from. --Ginormous (talk) 23:11, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
