Basic Info:
|
Pritchard Grove Railway Station is unlike most other building. No items can be found here so it is recommended not to waste AP searching. Because of the border of the map and the one building close by it is a great defensive position. The only down sides to the great defensive is that there is no Police stations in the area, meaning you must go into either Foulkes Village, Old Arkham, or Ruddlebank to get ammunition or firearms. Due to having 5 Fire Stations and 3 Hospitals weapons and first aid kits are easily found. Because this building is such a good defensive position the building should be extremely heavily barricaded at all times, so that only freerunners can enter.
Description
Malton's southwesternmost rail station, Pritchard Grove functioned both as part of Malton's subway system and as a vital link to surrounding cities. Its underground terminals are now choked with debris, but the station building is intact enough to serve as temporary shelter.
History
Pritchard Grove Railway Station was established in 1934 on the Old Southwest rail line to serve the tin mines just south of the city. The suburb of New Arkham quickly grew to fill the gap between the station and Malton proper. While the tin mines were eventually closed, Pritchard Grove became an important hub linking Malton to several nearby cities.
In 1978, Pritchard Grove was incorporated into Malton's subway system. Old coal tunnels beneath the Old Southwest Line, used to bring in coal from barges on the Malton River to the west, were expanded into subway tubes, and subway terminals were built beneath the existing structures of the station. The remaining coal tunnels were sealed with excavation debris.
At the beginning of the current situation, Pritchard Grove was one of the last stations to avoid contamination and infestation. Numerous Malton citizens fled the city through this station before quarantine was officially enacted on July 3, 2005. At that time, the subways were demolished in controlled explosions. The above-ground tracks were maintained and guarded by a constant military presence under the assumption that they would eventually be used to transport infantry into Malton to retake the city. For several weeks, Pritchard Grove was used as a screening station, where individuals found to be free of infection were permitted to leave the city.
By October 2005, it was found that everyone remaining in Malton carried either full-blown infection or a latent infection which would manifest at death. The military shut down their operations at Pritchard Grove and bombed the tracks, and built the quarantine wall over them.
The engineering maps of the old tunnels are stored securely in Fort Creedy. It is believed that one of the tunnels was imperfectly sealed; since this tunnel does not show up on any modern schematics, it was not factored into the current quarantine of Malton. Rumors circulate that one might be able to pass under the wall and evade the quarantine forces using this tunnel.
