Basic Info:

  • Churches have no internal descriptions.
  • Church doors do not close but can be barricaded shut.

St. Blaise's Church [31, 46] is located in the southwestern section of Havercroft.

This nineteenth century church is a European styled building, with jagged and slightly uneven sandstone walls. It contains many scenes beautifully painted on stained glass, some of which are sadly broken. They apparently lead up to a golden spire that catches fire as the sun sets. There is an blood smearing on the wall in the north transept, which has been shaped into an odd symbol. In the nave of the church, a person inside could see that the a few of the pews have been overturned, and there are blood stains on many. However, around the alter, there is a huge chalk drawing, with cursive text enscribed, which encircles the seal. There is no blood, or any sort of destruction in this area, compared to the rest of the room.

St. Blaise

St. Blaise

St. Blaise, martyred in c. 316, was an Armenian physician who ministered to both men and animals; according to legend, sick animals would come to him on their own for help, but would never disturb him at prayer. Along with St. Vitus, Blaise is therefore a patron saint against wild beasts.

Blaise is known as a zealous bishop and benefactor of the poor, to be called upon for hope in adversities and trials.

During the Black Plague of the mid-14th century, Blaise was one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, saints against the various symptoms of the disease, to whom the faithful prayed to be spared from the plague--or cured of its deadly effects.

It is therefore perhaps not surprising that this church stands next to the suburb's revive point.
