Current Mission

At long last the Malton Rangers are leaving West Malton for bloodier pastures. Good times were had in the west with the Ranges spending the last weeks fighting alongside their good friends the DHPD in Peddlesden Village and Dunell Hills. RANGER’S FIELD GUIDE

Overview

This is how nomadic the Rangers are. We don't even own cars.

The Malton Rangers are a growing group of like-minded individuals, dedicated to working with other groups and unaffiliated survivors to the benefit of Malton. A principally nomadic group, by nature, the Rangers aim to go wherever help is needed most and have begun to establish a reputation for being easy to work with and being willing to provide aid to places most others have already fled from.

While the bulk of Rangers usually can be found traveling together and working towards some larger objective (see below for present objectives), individual Rangers or smaller detachments often break off temporarily to help out the many smaller crises to be found in Malton.

While most Rangers do work very closely to coordinate their efforts with command and their fellow Rangers, no orders are ever binding or mandatory and the right of each Ranger to act and make decisions autonomously will always be respected.

Report on Owsleybank/Dunell Hills by Ranger 2win.

It took a lot of booze driven, blind, brash, bravery to repair and hold some of the massive destruction we encountered here, but we had several dedicated Rangers who dove in Leroy Jenkins style to give it their all. Also we had invitations for 3 or 4 strikes with open-ended options to the DHPD. Our new executive officer Techewan led some of the highly successful raids. Our leader, Wulfgar, was delayed at the first one due to an unforeseen *cough* PKing. Yet, despite his misfortune he comes in with good cheer whistling 'The Hills Are Alive!'.

Most of the later epic fighting/partying with the DHPD centered in and around the Dury NT. It changed hands about once a day it seemed. Great party to welcome some of our very capable new members. The keg flowed freely as Danr, our hot-blooded Ranger, unleashed her therapeutic fury on The Dead.

All in all, I'm chalking this one up as a win.

I awoke to screams and gunfire. As I emerged from the land of dreams where there is no pain, I opened my eyes to a world of death. I heard someone yell "They've broken in!" I looked at the doorway and saw an army of the undead streaming through the crushed barricades. I drew my .9mm and opened fire on the zombies. Three of our numbers had already fallen in the onslaught. The sounds of gunshots that echoed out into the lifeless streets served as a beacon for more of them. No human dared to enter that godforsaken war zone. The zeds, on the other hand, kept coming.

For each one we killed, it only opened the way for more to stream in. It was about this time that one of them finally succeeded in destroying the generator, casting us into darkness, lit only by the flash of our muzzles. Everything moved in a bizarre, other-worldly fashion. At one moment it would be darkness, the next lit just long enough to take aim and fire again to light up the room for another poor soul to kill one. The corpses littered the floor, piling around the doorway, forming a wall of bloody bodies, some of which still writhed in the final embrace of death. As the zombie army continued to file in, many stopped to devour the flesh of the fallen, blood running down their rotting jowls, dripping onto the floor. From their throats evil howls streamed.

As the few of us left spent our last rounds and drew knives and axes to finish off those we could, we all cried out our war cries. We charged for the Rangers, for the DHPD, and for all survivors who ever fled from the zombie menace. And most of all, we charged for our fallen comrades, to not let their death be wastes, to show the zombies that we are not sheep for the slaughter, but wolves who were going to bear down on them and slaughter each and everyone of them, God willing. I swung my ax wildly at them, hacking heads off of rotting torsos. The black blood flew around me in my fury. And no matter how many I killed, more took their place. I had a wall of corpses a foot high surrounding me, but they still climbed over it towards me. They leaped on me and I fell to the floor under the weight of them all, feeling muscles torn from my bones, hearing the ripping sound of my own flesh. And yet, I grinned a sick and maniac grin of contentment and laughed, for I fell not beside strangers, but I fell beside comrades, I fell beside friends...

I was wondering when the fun would start. We have hit some of it in Griggs Heights. Noah says the fight for Merson NT was a distraction so the repair workers could do their job. I say some people were just spoiling for a fight and wanted to get out of manual labor.

Guess the octane rating in both Magatsus' and Jukkelus' blood was running a little high to carry on like that in an infected state. My guess is they were tired of the humdrum repairs and used that zombie state to go berserker on us. I don't know whether to be disturbed or relieved that they were on our side. I hope Detbriscoe had enough needles to cure the hangover infections of every one involved.

Probably no coincidence that Wulfgar needed another hand to keep the Rangers focused. My sympathies, Techewan, you've got your work cut out for you. I just hope we don't have to file an environmental impact statement for the cans left in the wake of celebrations of your appointment as 2nd in command. Congratulations!

Well we finally got almost everyone away from the party at Tompson mall, Redwave would still be there but the liquor store ran out. Now as to the serious business of repairing Nixbank and Crooketon. It was finished on time and under budget after everyone finally got there.

We might have finished even earlier if Noah hadn't insisted on poking around in the Seaman museum. Lord only knows what Marcel was doing in there with all those magazines. "Decided you needed a little quiet time for reflection and meditation?" Frankly ,he has probably contributed enough genes to his linages already.

We continue our project northward.

Some observations in New Arkham by Ranger 2win

I've come to realize that most of the injuries suffered seemed to be the hangovers of some of the more enthusiastic Ranger repairmen.

"Don't you think that's a little selfish ,Magatsu, to insist on the whole six pack for "Hair of the Dog" cure of your hangover? You probably could have gotten your point across without crossing your eyes and rolling your head around."

"And Rockby,apparently we couldn't get any good looking zombies to attack so we had to turn out the lights,sorry"

I'm not sure but it seems to me that every time I was in a room with Wulfgar and Techewan we got whomped . Is someones deodorant failing ?

That being said, I think we have done our civic duty, with appropriate barricades and without taxpayer subsidies, to repair New Arkham.

Policies

Our official position on issues in Malton

Independent Initiative

Unless otherwise stated, positions on many of the more contentious issues to be found in Malton are left up to the individual Ranger to decide upon, and enforce as he or she sees fit. That being said, we encourage rangers to work in group fashion, as we are most effective that way.

PKing, Griefing and the Like

As the Rangers exist to aid the residents of Malton, we are opposed to and don't engage in all such counterproductive behaviours. It is the discretion of individual Rangers as to how to react to the actions of non-Rangers.

Multiple Characters

Several members of our organization run multiple characters, and we have absolutely no issue with that. Players may even have multiple characters who are Rangers. That being said, the Rangers will maintain strict adherence to Anti-Zerging rules and won't run multiple character in the same suburb.
(Since there are always people in need of help everywhere in Malton, the alternate character Rangers won't be suffering for lack of work, and may even go so far as to form auxiliary units of the Rangers.)

Lone Wolfing

There come times when individual Rangers may feel like aiding elsewhere than the primary focus of the larger unit. This is both permitted and encouraged by (MRCOM). All of Malton needs our help, and the better job we do of spreading the word, the stronger we'll become. Rangers Lead the Way!

Ranger Creed

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.

Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move farther, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.

Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some.

Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.

Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.

Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.
