The Lawrie Arms

Description

"...an abandoned pub."

The Lawrie arms is a two story pub with a cellar and a courtyard out in back. Located in South-West, South Blythville, [20, 78], it is one of two pubs in the suburb.

Cellar - Locked with a makeshift Keycard door lock pirated with love from The Tompson tech store. The basement contains Beer and wine, crates upon crates of it. A tap runs to the 1st floor when the building is powered, and the crates sit in the cool basement. The door remains locked when the building is out of power to prevent disgruntled locals from raiding/ransacking/ruining/drinking the supplies. Plans have been made to turn the cellar into a working brewery/distillery once the current alcohol supplies are consumed, but there is still a lot to go through before that.

1st floor - The bar and lounge area, open to all. We have a fine selection of Beer and Wine, however the staff hopes to increase availability of different drinks in the future. The windows, for obvious reasons, are barricaded, and any light on the first floor is either from the Sky-light (a hole up through the second floor straight to the roof sealed with glass) or the generator. The Staff tries to keep a powered radio in the building so patrons can listen to their favorite sports teams outside/inside of Malton. There are numerous chairs, couches, tables, desks, and barstools, none coming from the same matching set, as all furniture has to be pirated from either the surrounding unused buildings or the mall. There is a, depending on power, working bathroom. Patrons are advised not to use the sink for washing, but to use the hand sanitizer provided.

2nd Floor - This is where the staff resides on their breaks if not in the bar. There are 8 rooms in total, 6 with beds, 1 bathroom, and one sitting room. Patrons who are not a familiar face to the staff are asked to stay out of here.

Courtyard - Holds a small, but active garden which is growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. For some reason, zombies avoid the garden. The scarecrow was dressed as Michael Jackson for halloween this year.

History

The Lawrie Arms was established in 1911 and at the time was the only Pub in the area, and thus, was very popular. However in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s more Pubs and the popular 'Clubs' were opening up around the area and took a majority of the business away. The Lawrie Arms, however, had a large group of regulars to support it so the loss of business only had minor financial effects on the pub.

In the late 70s the original ownership passed away and the Pub was bought by an area franchise and re-named The Hopping Hooden Horse. Most of the locals and regulars thought this was a ridiculous name and refused to drink there until the name was changed back. After 2 years of bad business, the pub was sold off to a local couple and the Lawrie Arms was back in business.

The 80s were eventful years for the Pub, winning the Public House of the Year in 1982 and 1985 and renovations to the bathrooms. More people were of course excited about the bathrooms.

The 90s and early 2000s remained silent for the bar, maintaining business and keeping the drunks in check.

When the outbreak occurred the bar was actually closed for more renovations, and the lucky couple who owned it were out of town. Sadly, they have collected no insurance for the building. It has sat (relatively) empty until this day.

Barricade Policy

According to the South Blythville Barricade Plan, this building should be kept at Extremely Heavily Barricaded (EHB) at all times.

The Lawrie Amrs as it was before the outbreak. Still in around the same condition, but more bloodstains are located in and around the building than per usual.
