A bit of maths.

Look at the stats page. Standing Zombies : 10405 (38%)--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:40, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Which means that in Malton, a town of 100 suburbs with 100 blocks in each, thats a ratio of 1.04 zombies a square.

Now thats not a lot, or a fair reflection of Malton. The Big Bash can have 300 zombies in one square, so theres some variation.

The Thought.

The thought is this. Some suburbs are empty. No humans, and no zombies, no organisation, just ruined buildings and forgotten wiki pages. With this in mind the thought is simple. Can one man make a difference? Can one man change the status of a suburb?

The Experiments.

I have a different ALT devoted to this experiment. He is a nonny mouse. I don't want to invalidate my work by having others try to alter my results.

Day one is here. I have picked the suburb. Looking at its history and group. The survivor numbers seem to be below 20 and the zombie groups less than 40. Tomorrow I will begin.

Experiment 1.

I will plunge into the suburb, and find myself a revive point. Have stocked up on 17 syringes. This alone should boost survivor numbers. I will report back tomorrow.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:57, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Day One. Targetted both revive points and scanned 13 survivors. Icluding one rotter. Added all to contacts. Hiding out in an abandoned church. Tomorrow revives start. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:14, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Day Two. Not a success. A random survivor decided to repair the ruined building i was hiding in, and then not cade. Zombie comes in to attack. But I learned something useful. No feeding groan on entry, and could only get me down to 16hp. Zombies not organised. Lost another 8hp searching a ruined hospital for a fak, but i am cured, and waiting to reattack tomorrow. 1 survivor revived. Tommorow another 3.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:53, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Day Three. Going well, healed in my sleep by others, revived three.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Day Four. With a surrounding suburb being reclaimed I could sleep in safety. Another three revived. In one day the first revive point will be clear of non rotters. Hopefully tomorrow onto revive point 2.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Day Five. First revive point clear leaving only a rotter with no friends. Second Revive point tomorrow. Zed numbers are very low, cannot see how the burb has not been reclaimed.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 14:51, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Note Snuck into a necronet. Now have scan confirming no zombies at revive points. Botton half of suburb contains 24 zombies.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Day Six. Ran into the heart of the suburb. Whole 3X3 grids are entirely free of zombies and survivors. Repaired and recaded a fire station, before sleeping in an abandoned building. Stage 2, construction is under way.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:58, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Day Seven My work here is done. Fire station is up and running and new players are appearing there. Hospital has only one zombie inside and survivors are gathered to strike. No reason to remain here. I will move on, for my second experiment.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 18:02, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Experiment 2.

Basically, I'm flipping the concept on its head. Can a single zombie make a difference to an area? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:13, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Day 1.

Reached my destination. Founds the cades at VSB and the building unpowered. Tore down the cades to lightly. Waited to see the response. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:57, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Day 2.

Got myself combat revived. Very helpful. 6 survivors inside and only one with construction. Spent some time with my fire axe destroying cades from within, leaving them at loosely. I jump out the nearest tall building.

Day 3.

Cades still at loosley, but the building is now powered. I crack the place and kill the only survivor with construction. Everyone else is infected. Feeding groan should hopefully draw more ferals in. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:35, 28 March 2010 (BST)

Day 4. Headshot, rubbish luck. Cades only down to lightly again. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:22, 29 March 2010 (BST)

Day 5. The RNG God was with me. Cades from VSB+2 to Open in 20ap. Dragged the only remaining survivor out and managed a single ransack. Seems all the other survivors have fled from a single zombie. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:07, 30 March 2010 (BST)

Day 6. Got drunk.

Day 7. Interesting developments. The number of active survivors inside the target has dwindled from 6 on day 2, to 1 today. Tagging has changed from "Keep VSB", to "Keep VSB when safe". Chewed through the cades and destroyed the generator. That should stop new characters Spawning into the location. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 18:23, 1 April 2010 (BST)

Day 8. Cleared and Ruined, another zombie joined me. No survivor retaliation at all. Seems local communication is not very good. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:08, 2 April 2010 (BST)

Day 9. Ransacked the building next door. Another zombie arrived. Original target was reclaimed, but only caded to loosely. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 12:07, 3 April 2010 (BST)
