Extended Background
Howdy!
I'm just an Urban Dead player who's made a point of enjoying as many aspects of the game as possible. Towards that end, I've created userscripts, led or helped to lead some of the top groups, written a handful of guides, and gotten around the wiki quite a bit. I'm sometimes a sysop here too.
I have characters in some of the premier groups of Malton, each of which leads an entirely separate existence from the others. If my zombie eats your brains, it's nothing personal (most of the time), it's just me playing the character to its fullest. Likewise, if my survivor swings through to help you patch the place up later, I'm not a zombie spy. I'm honestly there to help you repair the damage to the best of my capability.
Outside of the game, I'm a software developer living in Bryan, Texas, USA. I graduated from Texas A&M University, worked in the space industry, did a stint in grad school, and assisted in teaching thousands of students subjects ranging from FORTRAN to ethics, though not all necessarily in that order. These days, I mostly craft bespoke desktop apps for engineering firms while having some fun with web stuff on the side.
I've lived on the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf coasts of America, so I'm used to lots of sun and beaches. Yet despite my growing up in the South, I never grew up surrounded by Southern culture, so it's something I'm still getting used to. The place I'm living now is the furthest inland (around 140 miles/225 km), the highest elevated (about 360 feet/110 m), the coldest (we get snow every few years), and the hottest (we usually have weeks of highs over 105°F/40°C each summer) place I've ever lived.
I'm also a Christian that holds pretty traditional or conservative values. I almost never bring it up on my own around here, just because religion isn't a topic that most people want to discuss while playing a zombie game, but if it's something that you have questions about, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer.
Besides my talk page, you can oftentimes reach me after normal American working hours on irc.nexuswar.com in channel #udwiki (if you're not used to using IRC, try this link instead). If I'm in there, just say my name and give me a few minutes. I'll usually respond if I'm around.
If you want even more information about me, I've also detailed what my desktop setup is, as well as what some of my hobbies are.
Oh, and my screen name is pronounced the same as "icon".
