Islands
Islands are buildings that are completely cut off of the free running network by empty blocks. These buildings possess a distinct tactical disadvantage to survivors, as it is impossible to gain entry even with free running if the building is barricaded past very strong. Few bother to stay in these buildings, the cons of isolationism seem to outweigh the pros. There are a total of 15 throughout Malton.
Because barricade strafing is so difficult to do in these areas, they make excellent targets for feral zombies. If one feral takes to weakening the barricades, the chance of a barricade strafer arriving and barricading before another zombie can finish the barricades off is much less than for non-island squares.

Malton's Tourism Department, recently impoverished by the zombie nuisance, has found that marketing island vacations to Malton's residents (both living and non-respirating) a new strategy in entertaining guests of our fair city.
