Dartside is a suburb of Malton, located in the south of the city. In times past, it was a industrial and working-class neighborhood, inhabited, like Greentown, largely by immigrants or the close descendents thereof. After the industrial boom ceased in the '50s, the suburb fell on hard times, with only four of the factories remaining open and the empty lots turning into wasteland by the mid-'70s. Although experiencing economic difficulties, Dartside retained a large number of railroads, which during its better days carried raw materials to the factories and finished good away. The suburb has a high number of hospitals. Before the outbreak, it had the 4th largest population of all suburbs.

Major recent events in the suburb include: the outbreak of the zombie virus and imposition of military quarantine (2005); the rise of allied survivor groups in the suburb (2006-2009); the disbanding of the Regulators Alliance and a return to decentralized survivor groups (2009); a period of general survivor stability with intermittent undead migration events (2009-2016); a brief occupation by Horde (2017-18); and occupation by The Dead (2019). The suburb's population, both living and dead, has been on the decline since the failure of Escape in 2010.
