Talk:Urban Warfare Doctrine
General things
First of all, it says that fire stations have basic medical supplies. Fire stations do not provide any form of medical aid, the only structures that provide an item that heals you significantly are Malls and hospitals (FAKs). The only other building that provides a healing item is the pub, and beer is not the best choice for healing. I just wanted to see if there was a reason before I went off and edited it. Also, in the criticism section, it says that this is the opposite of river tactics. While it does involve fighting zombies, and therefore does violate the basic idea of river tactics, it does agree with RT's fundamental idea of flexibility. This is because dam tactics is the polar opposite of river tactics. Urban warfare goes much farther to learn from the principle of water, in that it spreads out over areas it can control. Also, when it is displaced, that strength goes to all the other areas. Also, the priority list, while very good, should have malls and Hospitals on the same tier for the simple reason that hospitals have a much better search rate for FAK's. Honestly, I don't know much about ammo and guns in general, I'm a scientist who uses an axe because buying solider skills is extremely difficult at 150XP. Also, I love this entire concept. --Uberursa 23:15, 15 July 2009 (BST)
Fellow Traveller?
Thank you for codifying a tactical approach that I've been advocating for a long time now! I have some tiny critiques, and some specific modifications and/or additions to the strategy as I advocate it... but overall I think along the same lines as you... Also, this kind of play has been advocated by many players: a version can be found in the Guerrilla Warfare in Grimch's guide, and as far I know this is pretty much the way the Know Nothings and the Urban Guerrillas play... Still... Kudos for putting this together!
Good luck with this! --WanYao 00:07, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Whoa
I found this completely by chance, and it's almost exactly like a tactics page i was going to write up...
I hope more people adopt this. I'm adding the template to my page--CorndogheroT-S-Z 22:37, 10 April 2008 (BST)
This tactic is a pretty good idea, but it IS dangerous but then again, most things are just as dangerous. The only other problem is that its probably gonna be harder to coordinate but,if it works who cares if its hard?I support this greatly.--Gamestriker4 21:34, 25 July 2008 (BST)
- I am sincerely hoping more people do adopt this. Yes it is dangerous, yes it is harder to coordinate, but if done properly and thankfully the only elements that REALLY need coordination c/o past experiences employing organized strike teams are the strike teams and recon elements themselves. As long as regular revives are kept up in the besieged suburb at a rate close enough to keep the survivor population going often independent survivors will fight and hold important Resource Points and TRPs without any real prompting either way just as long as they are kept appraised of the overall situation.--Garviel LokenNo Pity! How Does This Tactic Apply To Forts?
Like the title says, how is this tactic applied to suburbs with Forts? Forts provide invaluable resources in the same way as malls, and are even more defensible with their single entry points. However, when the gatehouse is overbarricaded, no one can enter or leave. During a siege defenders in the fort will be effectively cut off from defenders outside the fort, thus rendering the plan of striking different buildings in the area rather difficult to employ.
