Great Suburb Group Massacres: 2010 2009 2008

Wait, a second Great Suburb Group Massacre in the one year?

Sure is, though depending on who is willing to help out, it may just be a very small scale one. This one has been initiated by Dezonus, which is new. If you want to help out, you are welcome to.

What To Do

Contact

This time around we are doing slightly more in an effort to hear back from (hopefully) more groups and see less groups re-adding themselves to the Suburb Group Template after the massacre.

Just as before, type {{Group Active?}} on a group's talk page. This produces this:

Stop hand.png Group Active? Request.
In order to maintain the wiki as an up to date source of information groups are occasionally removed from the Suburb pages when they are no longer active. Is this group still active? If so simply confirm here by writing something below. If not it will be removed from suburb pages in 14 days.

On the suburb talk page, put the following code in:

==Great Suburb Group Massacre 2010==
{{GSM2010suburb
|suburb=
|sigposter=~~~~
|sigcontact=~~~
|sigcleared=

|g1=
|c1=
|d1=

|g2=
|c2=
|d2=
}}

In the |suburb= line, put the name of the suburb. |sigposter= and |sigcontact= will fill themselves in. |sigcleared= will be where you put your name after all groups have been contacted and declared active/inactive. The meat of the template is the |g#=, |c#=, |d#= code. You will need one set of these for each group in the suburb. |g#= is the name of the group. |c#= should be timestamped with the date the group was contacted, and |d#= dated with the due date for the group to respond.

Once they've been declared active/inactive, replace the |d#= code with either "Confirmed" or "Removed" (it will get formatted on its own, so don't bold the words or do anything else to them).

Confirm

After two weeks, go back and check. If no response has been given, type {{Group Inactive?}}, producing this:

Stop hand.png Group Inactive?
No reply has been recieved as to whether this group is still active. The 14 days have passed and as such the groups link has been removed from suburb listings. If the group is again active please feel free to revert these changes

As a final courtesy add something to the news section of the suburb similar to this.

After weeks with no sightings group have been removed from the suburb.

If a reply has been given, change the ? in the {{Group Active?}} to a !, which gives you {{Group Active!}} as your code. Do NOT add additional code; edit the code you already posted. It will produce this:

Check-Mark-Reviewed.jpg Group Confirmed.
This group was confirmed active. Thank you for your reply.

Make sure to update the suburb talk page as well since some groups may have responded there instead of the group talk page, or may not even have a group page. When a group has confirmed activity (or not), replace the |d#= variable with Confirmed or Removed (as appropriate).

THIS PART IS NEW!

Some of the suburbs have a written up section under the heading "Active Groups". Most of these will likely not be true anymore, but it is important that we check.

Similar to the Group Active one, type {{Section Active?}} , followed by "COPY OF THE SECTION HERE" on a group's talk page. This produces this:

Stop hand.png Section still True? Request.
In order to maintain the wiki as an up to date source of information groups are occasionally removed from the Suburb pages when they are no longer active. Your group has a section written up on a suburb page (A copy of the section will be pasted bellow), and it is important that we check whether or not it is still true. If so simply confirm here by writing something below. If not it will be removed from suburb pages in 14 days.

Hopefully, the different colour will help them know that it is a different inquiry. (Yes I spelt Colour correctly, I'm Australian)

Similarly, there is also {{Section Inactive?}} and {{Section Active!}} , Which come up like:

Stop hand.png Section False?
No reply has been recieved as to whether the section is still true. The 14 days have passed and as such the section shall be removed from the Suburb's page. You are free to write up a new section at a later date if you wish.
Check-Mark-Reviewed.jpg Section Confirmed True.
The Section was confirmed to still be true. Thank you for your reply.

Again, give them 2 weeks, and if there is no response or they say its not true anymore, remove it from the page.

Got that?

Guidelines & Reminders

  • Groups only need to confirm their activity once, regardless of how many suburbs they are actually in.
  • HOWEVER, all groups listed in a suburb should be included in the template that goes on the suburb's talk page--even if they are listed in multiple suburbs.
  • Sections need to be confirmed for each suburb they are written in

Checklist

Now, as this may just be me, I wont write up a full list, but I will write the ones I am doing...

Mornington
North Blythville
Brooksville
Wykewood
South Blythville
Greentown
Ruddlebank
Locketside
Dartside
