More balanced Chainsaw

TYPE: New Item

Scope: melee weapon

Description:Now, i like the idea of a melee weapon than can actually kill a zombie with a full day's AP use, but the 6-8 damage stipulated by the chainsaw idea currently in Peer reviewed is clearly in the damage range of firearms. As such, i propose a chainsaw that deals 4 damage per hit, has a 20% to hit start, and can be boosted by skills up to 50% to hit (+15% from hand-to-hand combat, +15% from chainsaw proficiency), giving you a highly effective melee weapon that still does not have the raw damage of firearms. For additional balance, the weapon must be fueled by fuel cans, a relatively rare item. a fuel can would restore the chainsaw to its maximum 50 attacks - basically, about enough for 2 days worth of fighting. The chainsaw would take up 3 inventory slots, and re-fuleing it would take 2 AP. It would be found in warehouses 3%, a hardware store in the malls 5%, and parks at 2%. it would be usable unfueled (and by zombies) for 1 damage with the same hit rate.

KEEP VOTES i made it, i like it. Stronger, yet more limited than an axe. Weaker, yet longer-lasting than a gun. i tried to improve on the existing chainsaw idea. Kaminobob

So far I like the idea, give 'er somemore tweaking. --CrimsonD 11:24, 27 September 2006 (BST)

KILL VOTES This is incomplete, I need some more information on it. What are the skills for the chainsaw? Where can it be found, and at what percentages? Is it usable by zombies?--Grigori 04:01, 27 September 2006 (BST)

okay, i tried to fill in the blanks a bit. --Kaminobob 20:45, 28 September 2006 (BST)

Uses almost 10% of inventory space and has accuracy only 10% higher than a fire axe (when maxed out) when using fuel cans at a steady rate. And I think we have enough chainsaw suggestions. --Nob666 19:05, 28 September 2006 (BST)

the inventory was excessive, i changed that. the accuracy is important to stay low, melee weapons are INTENDED to be weaker that firearms. And i tried to IMPROVE on the existing chainsaw idea. --Kaminobob 00:03, 29 September 2006 (BST)

Um, if it REQUIRES ammo (ie. fuel cans), then by game definition, it ISN'T a melee weapon. That's why the Peer Reviewed version has damage "clearly in the damage range of firearms."--Pesatyel 08:01, 1 October 2006 (BST)
