Yvonne Johnson was Chief Financial Officer of NecroTech from 1980 to 2005. Born into the Johnson pharmaceutical dynasty, she was educated at Johns Hopkins and Harvard, where she earned advanced degrees in biotechnology, finance, and ironically, business ethics.
According to official records, Johnson was hired directly to the position of CFO by Willum Kersley himself, despite having no prior real-world experience in business finance. NecroTech's PR department claims that Kersley was impressed by her educational background; however, corporate lore and rumors among the paparazzi suggest that Johnson had become intimate with the much older Kersley, prompting him to offer her a high position in the company.
Willum Kersley "officially" retired from his duties at NecroTech in 1988; however, Yvonne Johnson remained in her position for another 17 years. In 1990, she used her considerable family wealth to found "The Cure for Africa," a charity aimed at reducing humanitarian crises such as famine and HIV proliferation on that continent. In her capacity as the head of this organization, she visited numerous sites in Africa, including some where NecroTech was allegedly conducting "humanitarian research." In 1994, "The Cure for Africa" became a focal point of a federal investigation alleging that Johnson had funnelled millions of dollars earmarked for fighting hunger into NecroTech's coffers. She was charged and went to trial in 1996, but the proceedings ended in a mistrial and charges were eventually dropped. Since the Malton City Council had contributed several thousand dollars to the charity, the city attempted to take Yvonne Johnson to civil court; however, Mayor Kline ended the matter by pardoning Johnson.
In the wake of that incident, Johnson was publicly dismissed by NecroTech. However, she remained with the company as a "consultant" for six months, after which she was very quietly re-hired to her former position as CFO.
Attempts to track the funds allegedly diverted to NecroTech have met with limited success. However, most of the evidence which does exist suggests that the benefactors were (at the time) head researcher George Franklin and, unsurprisingly, Project Sunrise.
Yvonne Johnson dropped from the public radar in 2005, following an attack by the group DNR. An official response by NecroTech claims that the intended target was the company's board of directors; however, a statement from a captured member suggested, and Johnson apparently believed, that she was in fact the true target. Why DNR would choose to assassinate the company's financial officer is an enduring question in this investigation.
