Zombie Dog v.?

Timestamp: Trunksoul 05:38, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Type: New class
Scope: Zombies
Description: I know this will be rejected, but I just wanted to give my interpretation of what a zombie dog would function like in UD.

Base Stats: 35 HP 50 AP
Starting Skill: Neck Lurch
Changes from normal zombie: Cannot be revified, but will still slump to the floor when injected with a syringe. As a result of this, they cannot learn crossover human skills or attain a flak jacket. Additionally, zombie dogs do not start with the same walking handicap that normal zombies do. It pays 1 AP per movement, just like humans.

In exchange, zombie dogs do not have memories of life, ransack, death rattle, flailing gesture, feeding drag, or claw attacks. However, because they don't have claw attacks, the zombie dog's bite attacks do effect the barricades. The accuracy of the bite attack against barricades is not halved. I feel this is fair because of the zombie dog's much lower overall vitality and inability to open doors. A character with body building and a flak jacket essentially has 75 HP. A zombie dog has a 45 HP maximum.

Skills:

  • Scent Fear -

Scent Blood -
Scent Trail -
Scent Death -
Scent Hatred - Due to it's enhanced sense of smell, the zombie dog does not lose the scent of Zombie Hunters when killed via head shot.

  • Digestion -

Infectious Bite -
Arm Puncture - Due to a ferocious bite, an afflicted player attempting to build barricades will lose 1 HP in addition to any infections he may have. This condition can be cured with a FAK.

  • Vigor Mortis -

Neck Lurch -
Clamping Jaws - After a successful bite attack, its further bite attacks get +10% accuracy until it loses its clamp on the victim's neck.
Survival Instinct - When the zombie dog is below 25 HP and 25 AP it gains +5% accuracy on its bite attack.
Feeding Howl - Equivalent to Feeding Groan.

  • Ankle Bite - Cost of standing up is reduced to 1 AP.

Lunging Strike - When standing up, the zombie dog will automatically attack 1 random human in the same square. The attack is at 50% accuracy and 2 damage.

  • Advanced Strain - The virus in the zombie dog's system has adapted to the Necrotech syringe. A zombie dog with this skill is now unaffected by the anti-virus and will no longer slump to the floor when injected.

Metabolic Boost - +5 to maximum AP.
Carrion Growth - +10 to maximum HP.

Discussion (Zombie Dog v.?)

Hmmm, what do you think of

Play Dead - At the cost of 3 AP the zombie dog can lie down and appear as a corpse. A survivor searching the area has a 50% chance of discovering the zombie dog isn't dead. When discovered, the zombie dog becomes available as an attack target and stays that way to all humans (not just the suvivor that discovered it) until it lies down again. --Trunksoul 07:23, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Hiding skills (or "playing dead" skills) are generally frowned upon. If zombie dogs were implemented, maybe this could be a separate suggestion, but I think adding this to the zombie dog suggestion will ensure it will be shot down. --Pdeq 04:20, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

This is awesome. although I was hoping to see a "play dead" skill. --Barroom Hero 06:00, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Put the "play dead" ability into the pain description. A Lost Boy 19:31, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

•sounds pretty fun, a zombie horde supplemented by attack dogs. i think its a bit too much of a change though because they couldn't use/find objects, all they do is attack... Michael ruppe 06:23, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

thats really not far from a deciated zombie player right now so its not really out there--Zach016 16:18, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

This has potential. And a new zombie "class" could be just the boost zeds need. It may be a little different from what we have now in UD, but it is definitely not out of genre. --Pdeq 06:56, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Can I have a puppy? Please? I'd vote keep. I'd love to be a dog, but I'd worry about pvp being a bit....off.
A Dog killed Jack
Jack shoots A Dog, they take a headshot and die.
^That sounds bad. -doc crook 13:37, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

How about:
A Hound mauled Jack, feasting on his innards.
Jack shoots a zombie dog. It takes a headshot and falls to the floor in a bloody mess.
--Pdeq 06:57, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Wait, let me get this strait, this is a new class and it's not controlled by another player, correct? ok... this is pretty out there, but I guess it might work. Just no play dead skill. That would completely ruin this suggestion. Also, this might be a little overpowered, esspecally with that auto atack when standing up. --BlobdudeTalk TM MC 16:07, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

im pretty sure its controlled by another player. Also technically it isn't a full auto attack as its just combining getting up and attacking into one action instead of two, so it may be more of a free action. The player still has to do something first,be there themselves and the other player has to do something to be there.--Zach016 16:16, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

"No, they're's too many of them, were all going to die". I support zombie dogs to the fullest extent. (*missing*one comment*missing* Description: a couple lines before this, i swear it was here)--Zach016 16:12, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Dogs don't have claws? --Pdeq 07:02, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Slippery slope here. Once you let zombie dogs into the game, people will want other animals as well. A flock of zombie pigeons, a zombie lion from the zoo, zombie squirrels. There's a guy already RPing a rabid St Bernard in Malton, if you want to be a zombie dog, do it that way. --Pavluk A! E! 10:53, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Only a few animals have been zombified. Dogs are the main thing, but there have also been lions, and an elephant. doc crook 13:47, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
How about "The virus has mutated and has now crossed over into canine corpses throughout the city." It is unable to affect other species because it's a virus and they're usually fairly species specific. --Pdeq 21:26, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Meh... I like the make, but not the concept. UCFSD 17:11, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Cute. Call it a "hellhound" and I'm in!--Actingupagain 16:52, 6 December 2007 (UTC) Just wanted to ask what happens when the dog is jabbed with a NT syringe? They wake up as a normal dog - no skills whatsoever until killed again?--Actingupagain 16:55, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

"Cannot be revified, but will still slump to the floor when injected with a syringe." It is incredibly fun to read throughly before commenting, don't you agree? --SprCobra 17:39, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
