Talk:Red Rum/Tommy Gun

Can somebody delete this or clearly flag it as the hoax that it was, by the way? I don't think we need a search-discoverable fake weapon page floating around to confuse future generations. --Kevan 22:57, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Edited as requested. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 23:07, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Adding some fluff and telling people not to edit it isn't really "clearly flagging as a hoax". I've edited it further, and removed the fake page title. Feel free to write the hoax up properly. --Kevan 23:23, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I'll add something to make that stand out more a little later.--Karekmaps?! 23:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
What is REALLY missing here is a little respect for how terrific this was. Seriously, this was why I joined RedRum. It's also why I give Eugenie de Franval a weekly manicure and take in her drycleaning every other Thursday. This was a stroke of genius. Kevan, you KNOW you chortled at this. I have added the proper reverence now, oh and I fixed that silly spelling of rumor.--Squid Boy 23:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Delete it? A hoax so great it had all sorts of people going? *sad face* --Vandr 01:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
And done--Karekmaps?! 05:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
The template was wholly unnecessary. I feel the style implemented by Grim on the following page is more than acceptable. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 05:32, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, more acceptable, if unnoticeable is what you are going for, you can barely even read that.--Karekmaps?! 05:39, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Grim found such a style perfectly acceptable, and of course I agree as I implemented said style here. The custom title is gone, we have a warning, what more is desired? All we wish for is to inject a bit of humo(u)r into an otherwise mostly boring and oppressive atmosphere. --Banana reads Scoundrell for all of Yesterday's News, Today! 05:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm ready to take this to arby. You guys are restricting the freedom of the wiki. At some point we have got to debate this more vociferously - the DK13 thing was horseshit, but no one felt like fighting it at the time. This is even worse. Your message is there. It's still our page. Everyone should be happy. If I want "a fiendishly clever and gut-bustingly hilarious" I can have it. This is a private page. You said yourself that that part is public, and well, I'm part of the public and I want "a fiendishly clever and gut-bustingly hilarious" there. So either way, I have a right to that edit.--Squid Boy 14:28, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Rawr. Squid Boy, is it really worth going to arbitration? Relax, dear chap. --Karloth Vois RR 16:05, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

like it or not this page does belong to red rum. all kevan wanted was to people to know the gun was never real. which squid boys version does.--'BPTmz 16:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

So you know Karl - my righteous indignation is a bit tongue-in-cheek here and Banana knows exactly what I'm up to. That said, I think there is a real issue here that I'm going to try to champion. I agree that arby wasn't the way and have instead chosen this route: http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/UDWiki:Administration/Policy_Discussion/Parody_Pages Feel free to comment.--Squid Boy 16:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

You have GOT to be kidding me. The clouds part and lightning strikes for a meticulous parody that neither offends nor slanders? Good grief. I think I'll go edit the Wiki inre: Continental Congress, because everyone knows THAT didn't exist either....--Jenn 1:41, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
