Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."
    • "...a derelict hospital that was closed down years ago."

Description

Maltonhospitals.PNG

St. Helier's Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Rhodenbank, on the border with the suburb of Earletown to the west. The hospital is owned under the umbrella of the Malton Health & Hospital Corporation. St. Helier's Hospital was also one of several city-run hospitals located throughout Malton. Built in 1982 the hospital was later renovated in 1997, when the MH&H Corporation began a modernization program on many of its properties throughout the city. Phase 1 of the renovations included a 250,000 sq ft Bed Tower which was completed in 2001. This was to be followed by Phase 2, a 260,000 treatment and diagnostic center, and Phase 3, an ambulatory center, but unfortunately Phase 2 was never completed and Phase 3 never started due to the "Malton Incident". Due to the outbreak the east wing of the hospital, which was to be the new treatment and diagnostic center, is still covered in construction scaffolding and white tarps while many of its rooms are incomplete and empty.

Ever since the initial days of the outbreak the hospital has done its best to help treat the injured and provide safe harbor for the citizens of Malton. Of course due to the evacuation not all of the original medical staff are even around, so survivors sometimes discover medical assistance is not always volunteered.

Mandate

The staff at St. Helier's Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

  1. To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
  2. To cure the infected.
  3. To keep its doors open to lower level survivors, if possible.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

Please keep this building at EHB.

According to the Rhodenbank Barricading Plan, which dictates that almost every tactical resource point in Rhodenbank should only be Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded and no higher, this building should remain at VSB.

However, Due to the fact that St. Heiler's is directly adjacent to another hospital (St. Alban's Hospital), it usually remains at Extremely Heavily Barricaded. Survivors seeking medical care are recommended to travel one block northwest to St. Alban's, which is usually maintained at VSB. .

Current Events

February 17th, 2010 - Somebody has over-barricaded the hospital to EHB. There is not a single zombie in the 3x3 area of this hospital, and now my guy has died of infection. -- Cashier Number 1 17:25, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

October 11th, 2009 - oO_Willie - Building is EHB with 7 survivors inside; this place have been pretty safe for the past 2 weeks or so.

September 25th, 2009 - oO_Willie fled all the way across town to here after waking up with 1hp and about 6 zombies eating me alive. I refueled the generator which is running low on fuel and currently resting up.

September 20th, 2009 - Building VHB and has no generator. Currently occupied by 6 others. No zombies in a 3 block radius. Very Safe. Alban's is powered and has over 20 occupants next door --Lazervolf 03:11, 21 September 2009 (BST)

December 9th, 2008 - D.I.T.P.S recon reported that St. Helier's Hospital was Extremely Heavily barricaded and lit.

November 20th, 2008 - The building is Extremely Heavily barricaded with a working generator. There were 15-20 zombies outside laying siege to the hospital, but survivors inside appeared confident that they had strong enough numbers to repel any attacks. The suburb's current zombie problems have been associated with the Militant Order of Barhah.

August 23rd, 2008 - At this time there are 10 survivors, 0 zombies, 0 dead/revivifying bodies. The building is EHB+2 last time I checked and the generator was fueled.

March 6th, 2007 - The Drama Club dropped by suddenly and performed scenes from "Army of Darkness" as part of their Border Tour of Malton. The group plans to travel clockwise around the border suburbs of Malton with one show in each suburb. They originally visited Club Knyps looking to perform there, but found no audience at the club. As such, they made an impromptu performance here instead (Audience: 6 survivors).

September 4th, 2006 - Today is Labor Day, and deep instincts inside all American zombies demand that they take the day off, pop a cold beverage, put their rotting feet up on a nice ottoman and maybe watch a relaxing snuff film or two. Despite this ancient urge, the Minions of the Apocalypse managed to collect enough zombies to break into St. Helier's Hospital. Despite clear warning graffiti inside (as someone spraypainted Don't sleep here, too dangerous! onto a wall) over 20 survivors were found inside. By the end there were none...

June 10th, 2006 - The Ridleybank Resistance Front assaulted and overran the building. Survivors were forced to flee eastwards as the zombie horde continued to decimate other resource buildings in west-Rhodenbank.
