Drama Club

Welcome to Drama Club. First rule of Drama Club is that everybody talks about Drama Club. Second rule of Drama Club is that EVERYBODY talks about Drama Club!

Drama Club is a loosely organized group of Thespians (that's THESPIANS, you perv!) dedicated to the amusement of the unfortunate souls who have been sequestered here in Malton as a result of this...little illness...which seems to have spread throughout the city. We strive to improve the morale of all by performing short skits based on famous scenes from cinema, stage and television.

We welcome you to peruse our acting troupes below. Some may be on a fixed schedule and will have "now showing" and "coming soon" sections so you can try to catch a show. Others may be open for booking if you'd like to request a performance through the Drama Club Booking page. If you have been in the audience for one of our performances we welcome your reviews in the discussion tab of this page. Please indicate which troupe you saw and the date of performance.

We embrace all aspiring directors here at Drama Club and encourage you to be involved in whatever way best expresses your inner Thespian (that's THESPIAN. Jeez!). You're invited to produce your own performances and post them below according to the example format. The only rule is that your actors MUST NOT engage in any other form of direct or indirect support of any other agenda than performances. No shooting zombies, no attacking or healing survivors, etc. This is necessary to ensure that we remain artists and completely neutral without inadvertently taking sides in any conflict.

Drama Club gives a tip of the hat to Shamblin'_Crooners and Broadway_Zombies who have provided inspiration for this group by showing that there are a lot of ways to "play" in this game.

ADVICE FOR ASPIRING DIRECTORS

1) Casting. Perhaps the most difficult initial obstacle since most of the obvious character names
are already taken. However, with some imagination and by researching some different options for
how to express the name (e.g. middle initials) you may be able to create a suitable cast.

2) Audience. You want to play to a good crowd, but keep the audience under 50 since for larger
crowds each actor will only be heard by "the fifty people nearest you" and this could disrupt
your performance. We encourage performances for the less fortunate (e.g. zombies) but keep in mind
that such crowds do have the rather unsettling tendency to eat the performers, making these the
extreme sports of Drama Club.

3) Script. Have the script completely typed out beforehand and copy and paste for efficiency.

4) Rehearsal. Do a practice run in an empty building to get the kinks out.

5) Posterity. If you want to preserve the performance for historical record (see examples below)
you'll need an additional cast member to "sleep" in the room during the performance and then
wake and take a screenshot of the result.

The Incredibles: Frozone and Honey

HA! - It appears we have a new Director orchestrating some shows in Malton based on The Incredibles. We have had two independent reports of performances on the discussion page, one appears to be the initial performance on or about June 23rd, 2007 and the other apparently occurring on or about June 29th, 2007 at Jensen Boulevard, suburb unknown. We don't know anything more about them yet since they haven't officially made themselves known on this page, but we're VERY pleased that the idea is catching on and hope they'll contribute more performances and to this page over time. Thanks to Fuster, we have one bootleg copy of an Incredibles performance which appears to have occurred June 23rd, 2007 at The Doggrell Hotel in East Becktown. Sorry for the grainy quality, but this is a classic and needs to be seen.
