Hello, I am Zarak Goldleaf. I play a zombie I started calling a 'thinking' zombie in the southwest corner of Malton. I originally started as a survivor, but constant pking of me and my group of friends led us all to start playing zombies around 2008, and we havent gone back since. I try to play light hearted and just have fun with this game, though I do a good ammount of organizing of my zombie brothers.

Commentary

I have watched the game stats for years, in particular the danger level map. I have taken notice that from when I started playing to present, the map has gotten considerably safer. I have also noticed an increase in survivor 'games', radio broadcasts, in game chatter, and spray painting. All of this signals to me that the survivors have too large an advantage in this game. I am in favor of administrative policies which would mechanically alter game play to increase playability and entertainment for small groups of zombies while not affecting the strength of megahordes. The game badly needs zombies in massive amounts in order for everyone to have fun. I am also in favor of player base defacto policies to ensure adequate zombie strength, such as the Rot the Mitchener project, and various salt the land policies.

I do enjoy playing the game, but find it is poorly structured to encourage zombie play, a serious problem for a game about a zombie apocalypse. While zombies do have serious advantages in terms of their ability to fight survivors there are some serious problems that compromise the enjoyment of anyone playing a zombie, chiefly that you will likely spend the vast majority of the time in the game accomplishing nothing more than whacking barricades a few times, even if part of a horde. As the player base has shrunk, and survivors have taken increasing advantage of outside means of communication (such as discord) this problem has become even more apparent. I think it is safe to say it is unreasonable to expect new players to join as zombies and stay playing for very long when they are unlikely to hear any chatter in game, will be head shotted daily, and will almost never find a player to attack. I am not sure what, if anything, could be done at this point to resurrect the feeling of the old days of the game, aside from a broad gentleman's agreement on alts and zones of control.

I would find myself in favor of policies and changes similar to the following:

1) Reduction of combat revives in necrotec buildings. Some sort of zombie skill to absolutely prevent revivification perhaps, or at least limit what survivors can do in such circumstances.

2) Zombie barricades: While the decay implementation gives zombies a slight tool to control zones, note that the recorded decay repair is 577 ap. At an accumulation rate of 1 per day, means that the building was ruined for over a year and a half. All of this was undone by 1 survivor, in 1 action, and it sidelined him for about 11 days or so. 577 days in zombie control, undone instantly, and only costing 11 or 12 survivor days. This is simply not enough to keep balance in the game, and the danger map demonstrates this. I would be in favor of some sort of policy that allowed zombies to pile corpses or something, so that survivors had to weaken a building before entering, or perhaps so that survivors had to spend additional ap to enter a building that was littered with corpses.

3) Prevent new survivor characters from being created and increase the starting skills of zombies so they are more rapidly playable.

4) A substantial reduction in the size of the map to increase the player density. The western half of the map has consistently for some time now been the only portion to have serious zombie activity. It would make in game sense to declare the eastern burbs have been 'reclaimed' and a new boundary wall has been placed. Removing 20-30 burbs would place players more directly in contact with one another and address the issue of new zombies not finding anything to do.

Irl I have a number of hobbies and interests (too many to list here), but am cool discussing things in the discussion page with anyone who is interested in chatting. I hold an advanced degree in mathematics, and have advanced coursework in philosophy, so if anyone has any questions on math feel free to ask.

Zombie.jpg Zombies
This user thinks that the zombies should outnumber the survivors, at least 2:1 (at minimum), and would probably vote Keep on any suggestion boosting zombies or making it worse for survivors. Why? Because have you ever seen a zombie apocalypse where there were more survivors than zombies? I don't think so.
