[edit] Welcome to our Wiki

Hi Dawgjz! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.

General Editing
  • Never delete someone else's edits, comments, responses, etc. off community pages. To do so is considered vandalism.
  • If you write a comment it's useful to sign it so that other editors will know who wrote it. You can write "~~~~" at the end of your comment to sign it, or there's this button Image:button_sig.png on the top of the edit page that will sign for you if you want.
  • You may want to know how your edits will look before they have been saved, to make sure that nothing is wrong. Use the "Preview" button before the "Save" button - it's your friend!
  • If you're slow in your editing and there's an editing conflict, you might not understand the error that you get. The easiest way to overcome the edit conflict is to copy whatever you have been writing, go back with your browser, and then re-enter the edit page so that you can add your edits without deleting those made before yours.
  • The wiki is a collaborative project, please do your best to work well with fellow editors.

Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page.

Project Mentor

Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information!

Your User Page

One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:Dawgjz). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:Dawgjz/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made.

User Talk Pages

Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:Dawgjz). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place.

However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment.

If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format:

==Message title==

Your message goes here

When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this:

==Message title==

Your message

The Suggestions Page

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

  • We strongly recommend that you read the Suggestions Dos and Do Nots and the Frequently Suggested Ideas pages so that you will have an idea of what kind of suggestions are likely to be accepted and what kind are ridiculous in the eyes of the community. The pages might look long and time-consuming to read, but you will find them entertaining and helpful.
  • You might also want to look at the Previous Days Suggestions. These contain a record of all previous suggestions. Use the search function in your browser to search for keywords relating to the suggestion you want to make.
  • It may be helpful to wait a few days to get a feel for the wiki and the other users before subjecting your idea to any possible criticism. If you're unsure, the Suggestions Discussion page is good neutral territory to suggest, gather feedback, and refine your idea before officially submitting it.
  • Write your suggestion according to these steps. If it looks too complicated for you, ask for help.
  • You can't modify a suggestion that you've written once it has been posted on the Suggestions page. You can withdraw and resubmit it with changes later, but only do that if people liked your original suggestion while requesting changes, not if it was Spaminated.
  • If you get stuck at ANY point in writing your suggestion, ask for help. There's no shame in being new and after a few times, you'll get the hang of it.

Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!

If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! [edit] Editing

Do not remove sections from group pages as you did with the Anti Cheater Alliance or remove sections of comments that have been replied to as you did on the talk page. If you continue I will refer the matter to A/VB which could ultimately result in the loss of your editing privileges. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! i have a huge favor to ask. can you email me or answer here. i have not played urban dead for at least 2 years but i am trying to get a job and when you google my name i am getting tons of hits that lead to urban dead. it is not impressive that my name is all over the urban dead wiki. it makes it look like i sit at my desk and play games all day - which i used to do. I'm merely trying to edit out and remove my full name from the wiki so it doesn't turn up in google searches. can you help Dawgjz 03:41, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Why don't you change it to Josh P. or something. --  AHLGTH 03:49, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

i am doing that right now if it will let me. thanks for the help. Dawgjz 03:50, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't get 'tons' of hits to UD, on the first page I get only one, to the group page in question. We do not delete old groups on this wiki and we certainly don't go around falsely removing sections of a group's page on the grounds of spelling. We do have a clause about removing personal information, but as this was garnered from a publicly available source (Desens) and says as much on the page (thereby creating the possibility that the account on Desens could have had a false name put there deliberately) I don't fancy your chances of it being removed. Especially when link 10 on the front page of Google is a lot worse.
You could always tell them that it's a different person with the same name or that someone else used your name out of spite. You not think of that? -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery! 03:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Edit conflicted: don't change it in any way. That'd be wrong. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery! 03:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Guys I have not played Urban Dead in years,at least 2. All i am trying to do is to get my name removed from here. That is all. I will pay $ to do so. I just need it done. When you google my name and urban dead you get 3 hits. Any help would be appreciated and I would hope some of you could have some empathy for my situation. the head hunter who i went to found my name here at urbandead and all over the brian keene board, etc. it makes me look like a tool to a would be employer. i am not trying to bug anyone. would just appreciate some help Dawgjz 03:55, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't make you look like a tool, all this shit you're doing now does. If al you're going to do is what you're doing now I urge you to shut the fuck up and go away. God damn, it's a name. On a fucking wiki. Sheese.-- SA 03:59, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
This is the situation. You are claiming that your personal information is placed on a page here. As I have explained repeatedly, the page in question is clear that this was only the name used and that it might not be correct. Personal data removals are generally done under A/VB due to it being a breach of policy. I doubt you'll be successful as you've been dishonest already, you tried to hide what you were doing under the lie of fixing spelling and then you tell me 'tons' of links and I see two over three pages of google with a much worse link available at www.texasburgerguy.com. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery! 04:01, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Never mind guys. I thought in 2009 a little civility would be okay. This is a game that I used to play at work. I haven't played in years. I know there are rules but i'm merely asking to remove my name from a group page that disbanded 2+ years ago. I am sorry to bug you guys and I'll go now as i doubt my pleas will be answered. sorry to frustrate you all. Dawgjz 04:07, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'm sorry for the hostility. 40 bucks and I'll remove all traces of you from any websites you want off of.-- SA 04:09, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
OMG! You haz mods on www.texasburgerguy.com? OMG! -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery! 04:11, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm pretty much king of the internets. I'm kind of a big deal you know.-- SA 04:14, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
$40 is worth it for me. shoot me an email off the wiki and we can talk. sorry for all the trouble tonight guys. Dawgjz 04:15, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't know what "haz mods" means but i obviously didn't write that on the texasburgerguy site. and that's the type of crap people pull up on a pre-employment screening. think how cool i feel that one of my nerd friends posted that? it isn't important but it doesn't help me out either - know what i'm saying. Dawgjz 04:17, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I think you'll be fine. But to anyone reading, people's jobs do actually get screwed by what they have online, many employers actually do search you. --  AHLGTH 04:19, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks everybody. My apologies for pissing anyone off. Dawgjz 04:26, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Gnome's right. We had a talk at school recently about "cyber safety." The majority was ether obvious stuff (don't post soft porn of yourself on your facebook,) or mild paranoia, but it was mentioned that employers do cull potential employees based on a facebook/internet check. In this comment, Cyberbob show's an AMAZING change of heart. Suddenly he's not going to be a dick evar again amirite?-- SA 00:06, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I draw the line at the kind of shit you two were pulling. Cyberbob  Talk  00:27, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, good. If you were going to suddenly be a saint, it would be really weird. :/ -- SA 00:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
BTW I just removed 1 sentence from that page i was trying to edit. i changed an email and a user name so that the statement as it stands today is false. if that won't work i won't alter/edit the wiki ever again. it was a last shot in the dark. i'm sure i'm an easy mark but i'd definitely pay $40 to get my stupid name off some sites. anyway, later on guys and thanks. Dawgjz 04:37, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Sup b. Anyway, here's the deal. We weren't being serious about the money, so yeah. Don't worry about it. Your name has been replaced with a [name removed] tag anywhere another admin was able to find it, so that's been taken care of. Now, the way you went about originally removing your name, and editing other people's comments were vandalism, but you didn't know about our rules really. So we will give you a soft warning and let it all be done. A soft warning by the way is just our way of unofficially telling you that you fucked up a bit, and that next time you'll receive an actual binding warning. Is everything good with you now?-- SA 00:06, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Awesome guys. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it and even though you guys think it is lame it was a really big help. Thanks so much Dawgjz 01:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
