I havent been happy with their use for a very long time now, but ive kept silent in the hopes that it would merely be a passing fad. Sadly, that has not turned out to be the case. They regularly break large pages due to the template cap, and increase page load times. As such, henceforth, the use of templated signatures on my page is banned. Regarding Archiving

Because several people have asked, im putting this here at the top.

This page will not be archived.

All discussions, past, present, and future going back as far as this system has existed are kept here, for good or for ill. Mostly, because the system would be a pain in the arse to archive, and im not willing to bother. Well, at least not until i hit 200kB or 100+ respondant sections.

Look, we cant tell how old you are on the internet, and to be honest, i doubt anyone cares. All we can judge a person on is what they write. The wonderful thing about instructions and such is that you dont need to understand them to use them as instructed, since its all done automatically thanks to some templates. If you had just followed the instructions everything would have worked. Saying you suck at the internet is no excuse for laziness. This wiki is very user friendly when it comes to suggestions (the userbase not so much), so you really should have read everything. I wanted to add the following to your "disclaimer":

I believe this is the most accurate statement possible. Considering that three groups have EXPRESSLY stated that they want nothing to do with the project, and are listed there and linked to against their wishes. But, seeing as I am not an Admin, I didn't make this change...

Actually, as I explained on Moloch's Talk page, I think the RRF, MOB and HH should place disclaimers right after their listing... As far as I'm concerned, they are listed, they have been effectively "shanghaied" into being "members"; therefore, they have editing privs on the page! :D --WanYao 17:51, 21 September 2008 (BST)

Heh, depends really on how you define 'united'. The UZM tool originally developed as an Extinction intel browser, it's a real simple config edit to include a php template for each group, takes barely 5mins to set up, and I liked the useability of being able to really get a quick handle on what each zed group was up to. Then I decided to offer it to any zed groups who would like to use it like we do at Extinction as well as make it an internet info kiosk open to everyone in UD. In that sense connecting the zombie milieu by enabling an online social network, irrespective of whether the groups involved use it or not, does unite zombies across Malton whether they're survivor oriented or barhah fundamentalists ... purely in a network sense rather than 'spiritually'. If you'd like a disclaimer tho I could put a general one at the bottom of the list, something like UZM is a third party web tool developed for Urban Dead and is not affiliated with the Zombie groups listed herein. All access to, and use of, the information is at the user's risk. Or some such, I don't like underlines tho, bad graphic design. What is relevant is that several groups have expressed their displeasure with being linked to in this way, via this website/tool. Now, if this were TEH REEL INTERWEBZ, then principles of good business and good webmastering would dictate that you'd politely accept the request to delink someone who asked to be removed from the links on your site. Furthermore, let's look at this strictly in the confines of how the wiki works. Effectively, this is either a community page (and thus NPOV) and therefore anyone can edit it... Including adding a disclaimer at the top. Also meaning that the groups that don't wanna be a part of it can add disclaimers... although, much like blacklists etc., they really don't have recourse to remove themselves, IMO. Or, it's a group/alliance page. And as such, every group who is listed therein has "editing privs" on the page. Which amounts to the same thing as above: the right to add disclaimers, etc -- but, even moreso, if it is a group/alliance page of some sort, groups can freely remove themsevles from the list. I incline to define this as the former; therefore, I'd technically be within my rights as a member of the community to edit it... However, I won't... Merge your own pages. The page is for move requests only, as in pages that require use of the page move function, not for merging. There is no merge function on the wiki. You cannot administratorially merge two pages and their edit histories, well, it is theoretically possible, but it involves moving one to a target, then deleting it, then moving the next in there, and undeleting the old revisions, and even then, im not sure that would work, and the history of the page would be a complete and utter mess. No, what you are asking for isnt an administrative action, what you are asking for is for an administrator to do your own work for you. You want the pages merged? Pruning, labelling any such change, etc. If a title is an obvious component of a post it should remain unchanged as it would be impersonation. Simply tidying something up is ok. Actually there's no connection with Extinction at all is there? Apart from me being the dev of course. As for the group templates, I didn't add them, a mod came through and did that as I wasn't sure how to categorize it, but the history seems to be truncated. You people really need some anger management, or happy pills, or maybe just get laid. But if you want to make a big wiki war out of it I don't mind, I love the argy bargy and it would help get a few more current Extinction links out there. I don't care if the UZM gets fucked over in the process, I use it for my own UD game and just offered it for public use well over a year ago and let it rest.
