Archiving news

Please don't remove old news from a suburb or a location, like what you did to St. Holy's Church. Old news still have historical value. Please archive them in the History section of the page, or on the separate News Archive page instead. Thank you. -- Kittithaj 01:49, 23 September 2009 (BST)

Nice Descriptions

Hey Mallrat. I came across some of your descriptions while unmerging Dunell Hills. I must say, I really like your descriptions. They're nice and brief, and they give a good feeling of time and space without going over the top. It's good to come across a user who seems interested in adding character to all those blank location pages.

I've also been doing that sort of thing in Foulkes Village. For example, Wasteland 4,80 and Cemetery 5,80. What do you think about the idea of picking a suburb that is mostly just stubs and teaming up with me to give it descriptions, history and images? Just a thought. Anyways, good stuff and keep it up!--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 14:02, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Giles, I tried to reply in your talk page, not sure if it worked though, so here's what i wrote in case you check back here...
"Thanks for the kind words. I often wonder if anyone ever reads the stuff I write (page hits suggest: No) so it was encouraging to get a positive response! I'd definitely be interested in a more coordinated attempt to inject some humour and detail to a nondescript suburb, preferably one with some potential quirks and interest like your own chosen Foulkes Village.
I have a tourist alt heading up to the barren NW corner and adding the in-game description lines for any building he visits: the buildings in those ghost towns and red suburbs are practically all stubs. (I'm trying to see how long a level 1 character can survive with only the free running skill, and dark ruins to hide in...)--Mallrat 14:32, 20 November 2009 (UTC)"
That page you just edited wasn't Giles' actual talk page. You can find his talk here.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 14:39, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Alrighty. I set up a space in my sandbox here so we can keep track of what we're doing in Foulkes Village. It's just a centralized list of buildings that need descriptions and images. We can cross items off the list as we go by striking them. It's just a sandbox so please feel free to edit it however you want. If you have any other ideas about how to go about improving Foulkes Village just let me know. See ya around ;)--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 20:37, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

This is the best location ever. Great stuff!--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 16:10, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm looking forward to building up a mosaic of Foulkesian factoids together. It is definitely more fun working like this and knowing someone else appreciates the efforts. --Mallrat 16:28, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Dude you're a machine. I didn't think when we started out on this that you'd be putting together more than 4 times as many descriptions as me! :) But I'm definitely loving the history you're bringing to the table and your crisp writing style is very much appreciated. I can't wait to finish Foulkes Village. Anyhoo, I just got to a stopping point on a massive project to organize the location images on the wiki.
If you're interested, you can check out the image listing here. I've organized the images by location type so they're easy to search. You might find it useful to browse some of those images when you're thinking about finding a picture for the next hotel or warehouse or whatever. Well, I should be able to pick up my slacking efforts on Foulkes Village now I've got that done. Laters!--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 02:09, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Giles for the encouragement and the images. I lead a quiet life so I enjoy keeping my imagination active! Once Foulkes is suitably pimped I want to pimp out my own domain - Stanbury Village. It's sparsely described for such a busy burb.--Mallrat 09:22, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I just came across some of your descriptions as well; they're very clever! it's great to see people like yourself breathing some life into the otherwise-dull world of location pages.--~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 19:56, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I had tried my hand at this and failed massively. It's really great to see wiki pages such as those becoming readable. --85lye79.gifRahrahYou know what to do. 20:09, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Mmmm, the sweet sweet smell of wiki validation! If you can let me know which locations you've enjoyed, I would really value that info and any other feedback you can offer for future descriptions. I'm now focussing on Stanbury Village as it has such a rich history and is always active, but I'm dipping into Pegton from time to time and adding a few bits here and there.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 21:06, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. Yes, the two characters you mentioned are indeed with our group. I assure you that as the Administrator of our forum, and a KT Council member, I have done everything in my power to make sure that these two characters are in fact different people. We have a zero tolerance policy towards zerging, and we take it very seriously. Re: HIStory Vol III

So I was flicking through my user category and noticed your user page was in there. And that's odd. So after checking that I had closed all the noinclude tags on any templates I made, I figured out the problem. You've actually just copied the code for one of my templates instead of using the template call itself, which has landed your userpage in the same categories I'd placed the template in - namely, Category:User Templates and Category:Misanthropy. If you want to replace the HIStory template code with the actual template call - {{HistoryVolIII}}, that'll clear that right up and eliminate some cluttery code for you too. 02:26, 12 June 2010 (BST)

Thanks Mis, NB there's a typo in the template though: desription, not description. Hope you can fix it. Cheers.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 16:07, 20 June 2010 (BST)

Sisters of Failure: A Short Story

For the record, here's a conversation between the Mallrat, Sister Elissavet and (briefly) DDR... I've indicated where Sister E had hissy fits and deleted stuff. After this Sister E added all of my alts to the Sisters of Death KOS list. Oh noes!

Parachuting into malls to attack your target as a zombie because you can't get a revive anywhere is the last refuge of the failed PKer. Just join the RRF if that's what your game's been reduced to, Sister Elissavet!--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 07:33, 24 July 2010 (BST)

I didn't parachute, I entered as a zombie. Let's see. . . our goal in life is to kill survivors. What should our goal in unlife be, to help them? What a silly idea. No, we're going to kill survivors and eat their brains when we're zombies. Don't like it? Here's a kleenex for you to wipe your tears and your snotty little nose. --Sister Elissavet 04:59, 30 July 2010 (BST)
"Parachuting into malls to attack your target as a zombie because you can't get a revive anywhere"... wait... she "can't get a revive anywhere"... so she's "Parachuting"... You do know what parachuting is, right? --VVV RMFBGFCABWUS 06:10, 30 July 2010 (BST)

2. Shouldn't you have started a new section for this page bashing topic?
3. Isn't it nice to see that mallrat has friends to jump up and cheer him on?
It's rather droll that you wouldn't support his silly complaint about killing survivors while in an undead state, but have instead turned to complaining about the background color. It's ok though. I don't mind the criticism at all. I think I might find something a little brighter, with a hint of orange in it, just for your page viewing enjoyment. "Burninating" . . . that's a good word. I might have to use it on occasion myself. --Sister Elissavet 16:42, 30 July 2010 (BST)

Alas, no reply was forthcoming to this simple question, instead Sister E delivered the following pompous sermon:

'POV Kilt Garbage'?

The Kilt Store page has over 50,000 hits. That justifies calling The Kilt Store 'famous' IMO. The RRF is also 'famous'. That's not POV, it's fact. Worse still - comparing the Kilt Store to McZeds - it's like comparing Savile Row to a hipster flea market.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 03:36, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

CTRA

Thanks anyway for the help with the Gulsonside page. And, by the way, the group doesn't just consist of one person, it now consists of three players. I added some graffiti to several buildings in the area, writing that they had been quarantined due to the infection by CTRA. I was only hoping to add some backstory for the purpose of fiction, is all.

Urban Dead began in 2005, so it's logical that the in-game CTRA has been in action since that time, quarantining Malton. However, it is only now that they are beginning to resurface.--CTRA 05:45, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I'm all in favour of backstory - see my contributions on location descriptions in Pegton, Foulkes Village, Stanbury Village etc - but that's different from just making stuff up about a new group and putting it at the top of the suburb page. The other sections on Gulsonside about different groups are all 'historical' inasmuch they describe what actually happened in-game, and those groups have had a significant impact on the area at various times. A lot of suburbs would simply delete all of those sections for not being neutral but Gulsonsiders feel the history adds to the suburb's interest. However, if every group that visits or is operational in Gulsonside used the suburb description to advertise its presence, the page would soon be swamped with recruiting puffs, propaganda and other verbiage. --Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 10:01, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Rotting Snoopy

This may sound like sort of an odd question, but do you have an alternate account known as 'Rotting Snoopy'? --CTRA 19:52, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

No. I wish I did, Rotting Snoopy rocks.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 16:42, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
He does not 'rock'. He is a PK'er who has been terrorizing my group. Do you know how to contact him?--CTRA 20:30, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
I believe you're misinformed about his rockingness. As I recall Rotting Snoopy is working to prevent Rotters' Relief from wilfully reviving known PKers, zergers and griefers at their clinics. It may be dirty work but it's a just cause. I am in contact with the person who plays Rotting Snoopy (though my characters don't work with him), but it's a secure forum that we don't publicise here. Sorry.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 02:58, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Please, I am asking you to contact Rotting Snoopy. He has wrongfully accused members of my group as being zergers of Rotter's Relief and thus, PK'ed them. We have NO contact with Rotter's Relief and are not affiliated with them. Please give him the following report that will help clear up any bad blood behind my group and his: A member of my team, Killer Moth, was recently accused of being a zerger account for Bigger Fish, a Rotter's Relief member. Your basis for this accusation, although logical, is mistaken. Killer Moth told me that he used a combat revive on RR member Bigger Fish without knowing who he was. He was only trying to clear a building for survivors, not revive anyone in particular. He then went back to the building later and attacked a Zombie there to help clear the building, not because he was working for Rotter's Relief. It was a coincidence that Bigger Fish later came and finished the Zombie off. A member of your team warned Killer not to revive Bigger Fish and other RR members, and he heeded it. However, the fact he killed a member of your group was because that member was a Zombie in a building he was trying to repair and barricade, not because he hates your group. For a while, I just advised Moth to stay out of Houldenbank and out of you guys' way, but then you tracked him to Penny Heights. Poor Moth has been killed no less than three times, each time accompanied by an accusation that he is a Zerger for Bigger Fish.
I hope that this will clear the whole matter up and we can forget this unfortunate incident ever happened.
Thanks,--CTRA 20:19, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I've contacted the Snoopster with your message. For the record, I don't work with the guys at Rotters Relief = PKers Relief. I just stand back and applaud because they make Mick's life in Vinetown that bit easier as he doesn't have to deal with a constant flow of rot-revived zergers and griefers. Here's Snoopy's reply: "I'll take him off the RR KOS list, but if we see him in Greatorex, or reviving RR members, or reviving PKers and known zergers, he'll go back on.

"Snoopy apologizes for the confusion, but Rotter's Relief does zerg and PK in their efforts to revive anyone in their clinics even if they are known zergers and PKers." --Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 03:24, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Scouting

Of course, i will re-scout the subs, just tell me which one they are.

I already changed Gulsonside, Stanbury Village and Osmondville because I know the situation in those burbs, directly through my characters and through regular, detailed reports from other people. With that in mind, there may be errors among the other 21 Danger Reports you changed as well - to blanket the whole of southern Malton in green seems unlikely to be an accurate reflection of their current status. Also, please sign your posts! Thanks.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 14:38, 9 April 2011 (BST)
I've scouted some of the parts that are suspicious and he's actually right for most of them- there is more discussion here, if you've scouted some of the contested suburbs your input, evidence or claims would be greatly appreciated, Mallrat -- ϑanceϑanceevolution 14:58, 9 April 2011 (BST)
Cheers, DDR: if I see any other changes that don't stack up I will revert them to reflect the correct situation. I think it sometimes hinges on the fact that there just aren't that many zombies around (The Dead notwithstanding), but even so that doesn't always make a burb completely safe.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 15:37, 9 April 2011 (BST)

We're scattered around in the absence of concerted threats, but there are usually some of us in the mall, the Vawer/Grylls PD area, Wetherall and Perryn NT, and the buildings neighbouring the mall. Grylls PD in Osmondville is a good target just now; we've recently reclaimed Vawer.--Mallrat The Spanish Inquisition TSI The Kilt Store TKS Clubbed to Death CTD 12:51, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
