Take this for what it is worth, but the tone (to me) comes across as somewhat survivor-centric as the prologue that you are writing seems to be setting up this grand last stand where the heroes of humanity finally fight off the unstoppable, evil horde. It's still bashing back in all but name. It also reads a little melodramatic for the sake of being melodramatic.
