How To Make a Discussion

Adding a New Discussion

To add a general discussion topic, please add a Tier 3 Header (===Example===) below, with your idea or proposal.

Adding a New Suggestion

  • Paste the copied text above the other suggestions, right under the heading.
  • Substitute the text in RED CAPITALS with the details of your suggestion.
  • The process is illustrated in this image.
{{subst:DevelopingSuggestion
|time=~~~~
|name=SUGGESTION NAME
|type=TYPE HERE
|scope=SCOPE HERE
|description=DESCRIPTION HERE
}}
  • Name - Give the suggestion a short but descriptive name.
  • Type is the nature of the suggestion, such as a new class, skill change, balance change.
  • Scope is who or what the suggestion affects. Typically survivors or zombies (or both), but occasionally Malton, the game interface or something else.
  • Description should be a full explanation of your suggestion. Include information like flavor text, search odds, hit percentages, etc, as appropriate. Unless you are as yet unsure of the exact details behind the suggestion, try not to leave out anything important. Check your spelling and grammar.

Cycling Suggestions

  • Suggestions with no new discussion in the past month may be cycled without notice.

Please add new discussions and suggestions to the top of the list

Type: Nerfing power
Scope: Powerful Lottery Ideas

Weapons from Museums

Timestamp: Jerran 06:17, 11 April 2015
Type: New Item drops
Scope: More weapons, more use for muesums
Description: I think that Kevan should add (assuming he ever considers updating the game again) museums of piracy and medieval history, and we should be able to scavenge weaponry and obtain clothes from these museums.

Discussion (Weapons from Museums)

Lottery tickets for developments

Timestamp: JoshCz (talk) 15:50, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Type: Game Upgrades
Scope: Donaters
Description: I have some ideas for things that could be worked into the game, things that would make the game more interesting. Rather than giving over-powered items or skills to everyone, perhaps we could use a lottery system for characters. Each character can get a single special skill tree and/or item to use in the game (this includes zombies), and you pay to enter into a lottery. This way you can still have interesting items without a player running around with everything all at once. Say you want to use power weapons, well you enter a character into the PW lottery and every so often we pick new players to try out new features. Not only would this add to the diversity of how the game is played, but it could be used to attract new players.

Discussion (Lottery tickets for developments)

So, a system whereby characters are randomly selected to be overpowered? I'm okay with the idea of randomized benefits, but the key point is that they can't provide people with an unfair advantage over others, which is what it seems like this idea would be doing right now. not looking to put in anything too OP, just to give players the ability to test features that are more powerful than previous features. The thing is, each character could only get one power-up, so the important thing would be making the features balanced between each other. In my opinion, unfair is being able to do all the cool things, the lottery would be a way to test things first before letting loose on larger amounts of players.JoshCz (talk)
You and I differ in opinion then, since in my opinion, it doesn't matter how big the advantage is, it's still unfair. Any advantage given to one player that others can't get through the same sort of work/skill is an unfair advantage. Plus, this game is about minor differences and AP efficiencies. What might appear to be a minor advantage at first could actually end up being a major advantage once you let the players dissect it and figure out how to make it work super well.
All of which is to say, I remain unconvinced, and I doubt that you'll ever convince me that a lottery system for distributing abilities is a fair system. Aichon 15:49, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
well, I see your point. Lottery in my mind is only a way to expand the game, give some players a single ability that allows them to play one "role" of the game better than other roles. Both zombies and humans get access, so its more about expansion than exploitation. I know from personal experience that a lot of players get bored after capping out, well lottery is about carefully trying to craft a game for the fully capped. After we test features on a small margin, we can decide whether its something we like, or something we hate. Lottery would be the idea of our kickstarter to raise funds, with funds we could expand the game however we see fit.
Basically, lottery is just my idea to grow the game, after making money with it and trying some changes we could pick and choose what to use to expand the game. Also could I rewrite my idea to be more accurate to what I want? JoshCz (talk) 22:17, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

Official Mayor Idea (lottery)

Timestamp: JoshCz (talk) 15:50, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Type: In-game Election
Scope: Experienced Donaters
Description: experienced players enter for a lottery to choose who can run for mayor. However many we take, we work down until we get 2 candidates and have a real 2 party election. Mayor gets a top-hat with a mayor pin, which allows them to broadcast on all frequencies at once, and to talk to large groups of people.

Discussion (Official Mayor Idea (lottery))

Little overpowered, don't you think? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jerran1 (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.

well it is an elected official, and they would get to talk to anyone with a radio, maybe have they're text in a different color. It would be interesting to have a single figure to lead the human community, then again no one has to listen to him.JoshCz (talk)
But wouldn't metagaming theoretically be able to accomplish the same goal? Besides, the mayor would probably take some effort to code in, and could abuse his powers and spam people. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jerran1 (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.
of course a mayor could have they're own page on the wiki, but being able to multi-broadcast in-game could be very helpful for in-game projects and more community activity, plus the mayor is elected so its up to the players not to elect someone spammy. We could add a fail-safe though to further prevent spam, but if we elect someone who takes the game seriously, that won't be a problem, btw adding 3 ~'s will put your signature. ~ ~ ~ without the spaces.JoshCz (talk)
