After the failure of Escape, Captain Video retreated to a life of quiet anonymity. And yet, something still troubled him. He found himself pining for that old Escape insanity. What if one Escape just wasn't enough? What if Kevan might be more willing to listen the second time around?

What if there could be another Escape?

Logic

Success for the first Escape was predicated not only on the Escapees surviving the zombie hordes but on getting the attention of Kevan and persuading him to modify the game. This didn't happen with the first Escape, and everyone died.

However, Kevan has a history of editing the Urban Dead code every Christmas to make it snow for a few days in Malton. Since he's already going to be making changes to the game, Christmas is the most logical time to appeal to him for a release of us from Malton.

Why on earth would anyone try this twice?

Short answer

Optimism.

Long answer

Two reasons, which may initially seem contradictory. The first is that we didn't get what we came for the first time, and we still want it. Those of you who showed up for the sake of showing up don't have to come back if you don't want to. Nobody has to come - this is a labor of love. We respect the game enough to demand better of it. We want an escape. Or maybe hand grenades or more crate drops; we're flexible. That leads me to the second point:

Though there's a great deal of in-game humor, any proposal for any kind of modification to the game at all is almost always treated as heresy. It's a game. We forgot that, somewhere down the line. Urban Dead would be more fun if things changed every once in awhile.

I want to join

Due to the first Escape being overrun with zombies, the location for Escape II will not be disclosed just yet. If you consider yourself a supporter:

  1. Stockpile materials for the coming, inevitable siege. Everybody should have
    • 1 Generator (20% encumbrance)
    • 1 Fuel Can (20%)
    • 5 FAKs (2% ea.; 10%)
    • 1 Sharp Instrument - either an axe or a knife (2% or 6%)
    • 1 radio (5%)
    • Additionally, everybody with NT skills should have 2 needles (2% ea.; 4%) and a DNA extractor (2%) These are items critical to your survival and the guarantee that, if nothing else, we'll survive. If you have excess XP right now, please use it to buy revival skills first. Reviving a zombie is the most AP-effective way to get rid of it, though you're more than welcome to fill up the rest of your inventory with guns. Gun are encouraged, but they aren't always the quickest way out of a tight spot.
  2. Confirm your allegiance.
    • If you want to be part of the party, change your group affiliation to Escape II (that's capital i not lowercase L) - not Escape (that was the first one)
    • If you are part of a group that likes sieges, you're more than welcome to join in for that aspect alone. Interested survivor groups should leave a message on the talk page. There will be zombies.
  3. Tune your radio to 28.34. There are nightly broadcasts, which are then archived here.
  4. Advertise. Graffiti and radio broadcasts are encouraged. Blades will still be watchin' when we're done, and he can have his walls back then.
