The Dury Museum

Description

"Buttle off and tell Baron Bruno that [...] we're here to view the tapestries." -Indiana Jones "This is a castle and we have many tapestries. But if you are a Scottish Lord then I am MICKEY MOUSE!" -Butler

Dury Museum... in pre-apocalypse Malton, the museum was a bustling little facility, hosting school children, tour groups and the public for a small fee. Guided tours were heard echoing throughout the chambers covered in aging tapestries from the great artists. A section of the museum was dedicated to modern tapestry artists, as well. The Middle Eastern tapestry collection was one of the most extensive in the world until the place was looted during the early days of the Outbreak.

Now a few forlorn tapestries hang in the gallery. Still, the Dury Museum Curator's Society board of directors managed to contact an old employee and convince her to return to work and prepare the museum to receive both living and undead guests.

Currently On Display

There are currently two cubist sculptures, a French tapestry, a print of a tapestry and two European paintings on display.

The French-style tapestry is the latest work airlifted to the museum roof by military forces. Edward Fisal's hand is clear in the design and artistry woven into this fine piece of art. Titled "Frenchman with Lady of the Night", the contrasting colors and intricate needlework show the plight of the man about to discover exactly what his escort is capable of.

These Cubist sculptures were provided by one of our partner museums. Details were lost during the exchange, but we're working hard to properly identify these works.

European paintings are courtesy works provided by Summers Museum through our cooperative exchange program. These are two lesser-known works by the late Roy Lichensteinberger, who was once quoted as saying "Rembrandt would puke if he saw my paintings!" "Urban Blight" depicts an early 20th century city and the occupants thereof living in squalor. The companion piece, "Urbane Blight" shows the plight of young twenty-somethings loitering outside a popular nightclub awaiting their chance to enter.

We're not QUITE sure what this tapestry print is actually showing... either a surrealist work showing swirls, or the effects of rain damage. Either way, we found it behind a busted water heater and are currently assuming it isn't the schematics for the building plumbing.

History

Barricade Policy

Current Barricade Policy is VSB++ so that visitors without free running can enter.

There are rumors that a group may turn Dury Museum into something similar to the Quartly Library, a truce zone where there are no barricades and survivors and zambahz both can find safe haven. Whether it happens remains to be seen...

Current Status

Ruined again. But, once a revive can be obtained, we will rebuild. --BLusk 14:14, 29 September 2010 (BST)
