Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

Description

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing in front of the monument:

"You are at the Stockham Monument, a glass statue of a woman engraved with memorial dates."

The Stockham Monument

History

The Monument is dedicated to the death of thousand of miners in the Stockham incident. The Stockham mine was a platinum mine just outside of Malton founded in July 18 1935. It yielded extremely high grade platinum and was the workplace for many of Maltons' citizens. But in 1956 October 3the mine violently exploded killing all of the workers. the source of the explosion is uncertain. some believe drilling into a natural gas reserve was the cause, other think a missplased dynamite explosion caused it, still other say that a rival company sabotaged the mine.
