This journal is a documentation of my experiences in the city of Malton.

I hope that it reaches out to those who read it as I fear my life is in constant jeopardy.

Entry #1 The Beginning Of The End...

Today I found my first faithful companion. Some time has passed since I have had true
company. Unfortunately it lies within an ax that I have discovered in a fire hall...

I've recently discovered survivors; however they were hiding inside a building and were
too terrified to speak. Maybe they had no trust for me with the chaos that wanders the
streets?

HidingUnderFloor.jpg

I call a local church my sanctuary as it houses me, provides for me and allows me the
distance to write. Oddly enough the comfort I fear won't be long lived as the dark
presence that looms over the city is defiant of hope. "I must remain strong!"

ChurchEery.jpg

There was one incident recently that has me startled...During the evening, I stumbled
upon someone lying in the distance with three dark figures standing above. I couldn't hear
much from where I was positioned.I was prepared for the communication that I longed
for. So I gathered myself and approached, offering a hand of help as I had thought it was
needed.

The figures started to reveal themselves to me as I grew closer. They were corpses much
like those I encountered from before, there was a distinct difference because of the
increased rot and scent of decay that emanated about them.

I struck out of instinct, fired my axe wildly at the air only to strike them enough to cause
some wounds but not enough to incapacitate. I couldn't save the one lying on the ground
as they were dead and lifeless. I ran... than hid from my hunters, later at night I went back
only to find the same body that was on the ground...missing...vanished into existence...

Entry #3 Like A Hot Knife Through Butter..

I remember when I was a boy my father used to teach me how to use an axe to chop
wood. He did this once for me as he always seemed preoccupied with his life. He was a
very quiet individual, didn’t say anything unless he really had to "discipline" you,
“Straighten you out” is what he would say…

I never knew those times of self-therapy, striking wood with an axe would come in handy
later in my life. I’ve been practising in the church striking anything I could find because I
felt I would need it’s basics in order to survive.

Today, I took out my first victim

He tried hunting me in the streets and I prepared myself well ahead of time.
It didn’t take much, only a swift swing to the head…therapeutic

You have Axe Proficiency (An extra +15% when attacking with an axe.)

Entry #4 Into the Shadows..

The streets of Malton are cold and empty as I search for sustenance for my supply can no
longer satiate me.
My empty stomach produces sounds of peristalsis as I travel through
this decrepit city to the suburb of West Grayside. Visually I observe the lack of people in
this location as the area is dormant, vacant of life that is recognizable to me as being
human.

I tried to approach a mall, however the doors were barricaded shut blocking off my
entrance and I wasn’t alone as a putrid figure approached me. I swung my axe into the
creature and than I left immediately.

Zombiemall.JPG

I discovered a stadium and it was also closed off to my approach. It seems the people (if
they are still within this location) are blocking off entrances to keep whatever is on the
outside in the streets. It could also be the thought of keeping themselves in….
Not wanting to be exposed or vulnerable to this dying air….

Alone.JPG

My stomach continued to persuade me and thoughts of food filled my senses as I made my way to a cinema
(of all places) with a door that is open to me. It was my welcoming beacon.

Inside, I found sources of moldy food with slightly refrigerated goods that I managed to
consume. My ethics were out the door as I have to do anything to survive

In the dark I notice I am yet, not alone. I can hear the creature breathe down my neck and
tingle my spine. I need to move as quickly as I can back to safety as I have overstayed my
visit here….

Entry #5 The Panic..

I was bitten! Bitten! How could this be? I was so careful with my actions…

All I recall is that I was leaving the movie theatre, trying to escape the zombie. The creature screamed at
me, managed to cling onto my body and bite into my arm as I was leaving the theatre. I panicked and
ran out of the building to find some source of help.

All I could think about was infection, the teeth were so rotted within the skull… dangling daggers of
death I call them. I feel weak…the life draining from my body….

Every movement I take or breath makes me fatigued

I made it to a hospital, just in time but the walls are closed off to me again! I hacked my way through the
nailed up boards in panic as I must enter and find supplies!

Hospitaladam.JPG

I covered my tracks to make sure I hadn’t been followed. Within the hospital I finally took the courage to
look down at my throbbing arm…..

BittenArmAdam.JPG

I than quickly gathered any supplies that I could to help with my treatment. I successfully managed to
use aseptic technique and clean out the wound as best as I could. I hope the antibiotics I found are
effective! (The dating on the pills is worn and outdated but it’s all I have).

Afterwards I looked around the hospital and managed to gather more supplies for future medical needs.
I have been carrying a radio with me since the attack at the police station. It’s my only form of
communication and yet I still haven’t managed to get any transmission off of it.

I’m going to stay put until the time is right for me to move on. For now I need rest

Entry #6 I have Seen The Light..

As I slept (I think) I had dreamt… it felt surreal to me as I lay. I felt like I was laying on
something cold which woke me. As I slowly begun to open up my eyes I viewed someone
working above me... I'm unable to provide a description…

I begun fighting to keep my head upright as I felt weak....paralyzed in movement....
I could see that I was on a blood stained metal table, with many fresh bloodied tools close to me.
The figure than looked at me with a surgical mask and didn't say a thing... a bright light blinded
me as I awakened from the dream....

Surgeryadam.JPG

When I woke in the next evening the figure was gone and the scenery was removed. My
bandaging on my arm was changed, fresh and clean.

I soon discovered that the bright light from my dream was from a flare that went off in the
neighbourhood and glared out of a boarded-up window within the hospital walls... I'll be heading out to
investigate it shortly now that I am rested.

Health is at 50 and full....

Entry #7 Bombardment

''I gathered my belongings and headed towards the only source of life that I could, like a moth to a flame I
persisted. It lead me out of
West Grayside and back into the familiar Buttonville.

As I followed my instincts I noticed that it started to lead me down a road I’ve been before and at the
gates lay the same police department that I escaped from. The place where I faced my terror

Outside the building I noticed two inanimate corpses that were scattered on the sidewalk. Both of them
had been decapitated and one stood out more because there was distinct burn marks on the body. Even
while at ease during the sight of my fears demise I still felt hesitant. I entered into the police station and
was informally greeted by a group of four individuals, a police officer and three civilians.

The first thing I saw was a man curled up and unnerved in a corner, I did not approach him
because he looked like he had many issues that he was dealing with and would not like my attention.

Incorner.jpg

When I questioned the police officer about the flare he told me nothing, he went on to mention
that he was “recently retired” and trying to hold onto what’s left of his humanity as he drank
from a glass of brandy. When I looked at him I could see he was wearing a balaclava, police cap,
short-sleeved shirt, police jacket, trousers and a pair of black boots. All of which were the colour
blue, torn and caked in blood… he looked like a walking crime scene.

I turned to another survivor who was sitting on guard at the front entrance; he seemed too
terrified to speak a word. He also wore a police jacket, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of black
boots which were also blood soaked. Next to him was a man who was busy patching up his own
wounds. He glanced at me slightly but that was his only sign acknowledgment. Otherwise, he
like the others kept their silence (at least for that moment).

I went to the back of the police station to rest and really questioned the purpose of the light that I
had witnessed earlier. Why did it bring me back to this place? I re-lived the brutal images in my head
of what had happened that terrible night. Luckily, my locker was still at the station so I was able
to change my torn clothing.

It was much too late to wander the streets safely, so with the men all at their posts watching the
building I decided to sleep. Unknowingly, we were being hunted at the police station no matter
how protected we thought we were.

It started off with the doors and windows being attacked than torn down. I was asleep when it
happened and awoke when a zombie bit directly into my neck. It felt like the previous time when
I was attacked at the cinema. The bite scared me and woke me up as I noticed my attacker drag
one of the other men screaming outside into the street. The police officer tried his best to fight
with our attacker but unfortunately it was not enough. He ended up getting ripped into pieces as I
watched the zombie feed.

It was that moment when I got up and attacked with every ounce of energy I had. This zombie
felt experienced, like a hit man striking anything he could with the intent of spreading his disease
like the plague of Europe. I managed to knock the zombie back enough so that I could hide while
I quickly healed my wounds. I could hear him seeking for his food and I wanted to make him
work for it. I waited until his guard was down and I hit him with my axe than took off through the
police station front doors. I could see my church and I ran as fast as I could to get there in order
to lay low. The beast is off my trail for the time being.

Health is down to 48.
