The Sound Of Helicopters Explained

BBC, The Other Side, by Jack Ebbutt;

During the early hours of Christmas Morning, many Malton citizens reported what they described as the sound of a helicopter flying overhead. Despite rumours that the military was dropping supply crates, no one actually saw a helicopter. Nor could anyone provide proof of having found any crates lying around.

Professor Nurplestrom, head of the Malton Astronomy Research Observation Society (MAROS), offers a different opinion on the source of the noise. In a public release on December 29th, he declared that he had observed a strange object while attempting to view a localized meteor shower late Christmas Eve night.

His account relates that a light emitting, bell shaped object appeared on the MAROS Field Scanner at 11:58. The object was first noted as being in the SW area of Malton, near Old Arkham but moved rapidly towards the NE in an odd zig-zag pattern, approximately 150-200 feet above the ground.

Reviews of the Scanner's readout at less than 0.64 TWs per second, clearly reveals a dark, bell-shaped object approximately 40 feet in diameter, emitting a strange yellowish glow around it's bottom portion.

Having heard the seemingly familiar sound of a helicopter during the time of his observations, Nurplestrom concludes that the sound everyone claims to have heard, was indeed emitted by the strange craft. The entire incident lasted less than four minutes before moving beyond the Scanner's range. Air samples were taken from key locations and are currently being analyzed by NurpleStrom and his staff at MAROS using a modern Radio SpectroGraph element divider.

While this sighting should not induce panic, it does bring to thought, the possibility of an alternate future for Malton if not the entire world.
