Defense Research Corp

Defense Research Corp (DRC) has a long history of working on secret projects with the military and was considered one of the top contractors in the area of militarization of bio-science research. Although independently owned, DRC worked closely with companies such as Rateger Inc. and Necrotech on a multitude of projects.

DRC was rumored to have been finalizing the mechanics of Project Jasmine (a remote Agent 51 delivery system and a subsystem of Project Soma that was taken over by Necrotech after the failure of Rateger Inc.) in the Zulu Lab located in Ridleybank. With the much of the documentation and records for these projects lost, this is somewhat of a speculative assertion but enough evidence has surfaced to lead to this conclusion.

DRC corporate leadership was directed by President Robert Batey, husband of infamous Rateger Inc. researcher Abigail Batey, and Vice President Williheml Roshcell. There was a great deal of controversy surrounding the marriage of Robert and Abigail Batey and the tight, and some say illegal, relationship of Rateger Inc. and DRC. Williheml Roshcell spent many days in the harsh media spotlight dealing financial scandals and rumors of ethically questionable research projects the two companies were involved with. And while Rateger Inc. would eventually fail because of these sorts of account irregularities, DRC would escape from these inquiries unscathed due in no small part to Willihemls handling of the media.

DRC Project leadership was broken down into 3 areas. Josh Kemper was in charge of Soldier Survivability System, James November headed up the Weapons Division and Roger Smithes was the leader of Tactical Communications. Josh Kemper was best known after being named as a “Person of interest? after several shipments of DRC tactical armor that was being sent to Fort Creedy was found in possession of several criminal gangs including radical elements like the ALF. Roger Smithes name had become synonyms with MalTel when it was revealed he had has been the driving force behind the controversial use of the DRCs black box SCC (Superior Cellular Control) software for the MalTel network. James November tenure at DRC was unremarkable outside of his association with the Zulu Lab and Project Jasmine. James November truly became famous as a rallying cry for survivors after his heroic, and ultimately tragic, leadership during the early siege in Barrville.
