Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."

Description

Egbert General Hospital is an imposing yellow-stone building, its doorway flanked by statues.

Egbert General Hospital after a Sinclair Corporation remodel

History

Egbert General Hospital was originally built as a Catholic hospital in 1899, named after St. Egbert - it was registered to the local council as the St. Egbert Catholic Chaplaincy.

During World War I and II the staff and premises were commandered by the Army to provide rehabilitation to soldiers with mental illnesses.

In the 1950s the Hospital was sold to the Government and rebuilt as the Egbert General Hospital - the St. prefix was dropped due to pressure from several atheist groups - where it became one of the more prominent hospitals in Malton thanks to it's extensive A&E departments.

Sometime during the 21st century it received a rebuild from Sinclair.

1 October, 2022

For years, Egbert General Hospital has been under the care and safety of Dr Otto Octavius' Medical Staff. Recently however, the hospital has been under attack by a group of 5 zeds going on for at least a month now, with a rag-tag group of local survivors (each with funny names) fighting to take back the hospital. Despite reclaiming the hospital many times and the survivor numbers being twice that of the dead, the zeds always come back and camp inside the hospital. Most of the hospital staff seems to have gone into hiding.

The hospital is being used as a base for Dr Otto Octavius' Medical Staff. Not sure about fuel or generator status but seems pretty zom free. Desert_Roamer

3 Zombies outside, VHB, Generator appeared running. Not sure fuel status, unable to gain entry. Smacked some Zeds and retreated to safehouse Firehound450 out

The building has recently been abandoned by the Zombies, none to be seen within three blocks. Then again 6 or so have been seen to the north.

No generator is running, having been destroyed in the attack, only lightly barricaded and the doors have been closed.

Potential candidate for rebuilding in my opinion.
