The Basics

The Free Malton Resistance Army (FMRA), also known as the Malton Resistance Army (MRA), is a group founded on February 19, 2008, and was designed to unite smaller human clans into a single, unified force for more effective battles against the undead. The founder of the group is Nathan Blackwell, a military strategist who intends to incorporate modern zombie physiology and psychology into new fighting tactics. Once assembled from clans, the FMRA wishes to recuperate forces and embark on a campaign across Malton City.

The Blackwell Hypothesis

The FMRA was formed because the creator, General Nathan Blackwell, realized the deteriorating situation in Malton City after years of zombie control. There was a time in the city where the survivors thrived in fortresses scattered across the map, keeping the zombie hordes at bay and living in semi-luxury. Then the undead enemy began to evolve and adapt. They began to learn and coordinate. Blackwell realized that what we are now facing is no longer shambling hordes of unintelligent corpses, but rather a highly evolved (although unorthodox) species. Since their brains reverted to basic functions, Blackwell reasons, they have been open to evolve. While human brains are capable of operating only to small capacities for brain activity. Zombies have no such limitation, and in such, over time develop new cognitive and mental abilities the likes of which humans can only imagine. Among these abilities, some zombies appear to communicate telepathically, as they often have organized strikes on human strongholds for maximum effectiveness. There are subsets and complex groups within zombie society, and very little in-fighting amongst them. It is even believed that zombies have human 'spies' within the ranks of the living that are either possessed by the living dead, or else being commanded somehow else. The zombies are learning, they know to strike our revivification sites to weaken our reinforcements during sieges, they know how to intercept our communications and infiltrate our safest places. The only way to defeat these organized hordes is with equally organized hordes of survivors. Blackwell reasons that the human survivors throughout the city have superior sighting capabilities, and in mny cases superior numbers, to the zombies. The only thing that allows them to destroy the city and its inhabitants is their telepathic organization. (Meta-gaming)

The MRA Plan

In South Africa, a rogue apartheid war criminal years ago developed a strategy for defeating the first wave of zombies on a national level. This man's name is Paul Redeker, and he is currently at the disposal of a mental asylum in a remote safe zone. His plan required a selective retreat to a safe zone, in which, humanity could rally itself in natural or man-made fortifications and drive out the dead from a nearby area. As well as the tactical retreat, civilian outposts were kept alive to attract zombies away from the recuperation in the home base. Redeker's plan was incredibly successful in the early days of the war, but fails to factor in the evolved state the zombies now find themselves in. The revised Redeker Plan, known as the Redeker-Blackwell Doctrine, or the Malton Doctrine factors in the abilities and organization of Zombies within Malton city.

The Redeker-Blackwell Doctrine

The basics of the Redeker-Blackwell Doctrine calls for complete organization of all survivors operating within Malton City. Only with organization in numbers can the plan succeed. After human forces are united, 80% of them will secretly pull back to an easily fortified sector of the map where they will begin a system of 'secure and occupy. In the early days of the Doctrine, this area may be as small as one suburb but doubtlessly will expand. Once in this area (yet to be disclosed) the survivors begin repairing structures and fortifying them against attack. Each suburb will be divided into sectors, each of which possessing key structures responsible for the operation of the sector. (Fortress, Mall, NecroTech facility, etc.) According to Blackwell, the biggest problem facing survivors in deep parts of the city is the new zombie tactic of destroying structures. Not only does this add strength and experience to the zombie hordes, but it prevents free-running between buildings by players. In fortified zones, free-running will allow for more strategic operations. Simply put, it will make the zombies fight on our terms again. The other 20% of humanity will be left in small sectors outside the main zone of operation in each suburb, to prevent the zombie hordes from following our retreat.

The Retreat

The most important aspect of the tactical retreat to a safe zone is ensuring the integrity of the location of retreat, so the location will not be posted publicly until the relocation phrase of the majority of group affiliates has been achieved, and the safe zone has been fully fortified. Then, civilian humans willing to work towards the war effort will be allowed to pass freely into the base of operations. However, some minor specifics of the retreat can be outlined. The retreat will be covered by a series of military and civilian militia units who garrison structures, luring undisciplined zombies from the main retreat refugee stream. The civilian shelters outside the main defensive base will also provide defensive cover for the retreating human army. The retreat, likely to last the bulk of several days, will be filled with bloody battles across the city, but all casualties will be necessary evils. The retreat will be a matter of three phases.

1. Recuperate 2. Sweep 3. Repair/Fortify

The first stage involves the literal falling back of all military units to specified locations within the soon-to-be 'safe zone' these fallback points will likely become the nucleus fortresses in the secured zone and are likely already occupied human structures.

The second stage is the sweep-and-clear of all zombies within the selected safe zone and defeating the advancing zombie hordes which will likely follow the retreating human forces.

The third stage of the retreat is the rebuilding of all structures within the safe zone. There is no section of the city unaffected by the marauding of humans or the destructive capabilities o these zombies. The crumbling and decaying buildings are not only risks to survivors attempting to occupy them, but they prevent full mobility and force multipliers within the safe zone. Then, we fortify structures, especially those which are the perimeter of the safe zone, and hold off until the undead assault slows down and the zombies begin to focus on the deeper civilian fortresses within the city. As these fortresses begin to fall, Blackwell plans to strike.

The Attack

The attack will not be the grand spectacle that the survivors of Malton will want. Securing the city will not be easy, and can only be accomplished with an amount of commitment and work literally unheard of before. Slowly but surely, the Free Malton Resistance Army will sweep, clear, and occupy more and more structures in more and more neighborhoods, creeping out from the safe zone. Over time, with strategic battles and an organized plan, the undead ranks will be forced further and further back, and eventually we will liberate the surviving civilian fortresses until, at last, victory will be ours.

Joining the Free Malton Resistance Army

If you wish your clan or organization to be a member of the FMRA, and you are committed to fulfilling the Redeker-Blackwell Doctrine, message Nathan Blackwell. If you belong to a group, inform your group leader of this strategy. If you are independent, become a member of the FMRA group. Together, we can push back the dead.
