Malton Hash House Harriers (MH3)
A drinking club with a running problem!
History
Mission Statement
The goals of hashing, from a 1950 club registration card for the Hash House Harriers in Kuala Lumpur are:
- To promote physical fitness among our members
- To get rid of weekend hangovers
- To acquire a good thirst and to satisfy it in beer
- To persuade the older members that they are not as old as they feel
More specific to Malton, MH3 is formed around the following founding principles:
- To ruin our livers so there's nothing left for the zombies to eat
- To see what the other members of MH3 look like with their clothes on
- To find as much shambling grey shiggy [1] as is humanly possible
- To cure ourselves finally of that damned poison ivy
Strategies
Still formulating as experience is gained. See Oktoberfest's blog for his latest insights on surviving in Malton.
Beer
- Locations: Warehouses; Mall liquor stores; Auto Repair Shops; Pubs; Clubs; Barracks; Arms
- Encumbrance: 2%
- Heals 1 HP. One use only.
- (Useful to broadcast you have Bodybuilding, so people scanning the list for those in need of healing don't assume you're healed if you have 50hp.)
Arms
- Items: Beer and wine can be found inside, along with mobile phones and newspapers. You can also occasionally find shotguns.
- Internal descriptions: "…an abandoned pub."
Zombie v/s Zombies
Zombie
- A tropical libation often enjoyed by Hashers. Not to be confused with Zombies (see below).
Zombies
Recruitment
Go get your nose bloody. Without these key skills you will simply be a burden during Hashs:
- Free Running
- Construction
- Trail Following
Traditions
Euphemism for "rules". The first rule is "there are no rules", the second rule is "see rule number 1".
On your first hash with MH3, our tradition is that you have to do one of three things:
- Sing us a song
- Tell us a joke
- Eat a body part
Wherever possible, trails will be live-hared. Hares will be given a 15-minute head start except for dead hares which will be given a 2-day head start.
Shot checks will be held only at revivification points.
Trail Markings
Due to the unique terrain for hashes in Malton, the following trail markings are used:
- A chunk of flesh is a hash mark
- A pair of crossed arms is a check
- A foot is a bad trail
- A number of shotgun shells and a head means backcheck the number of shotgun shells
