Nichols Mall
Having newly arrived in Malton with only a pistol and three magazines, I made my way to Nichols, attracted by the promise of easy ammo and FAKs. It took sometime to gain entrance, as I did not yet have the Free Running skill. In my inexperience, at the first signs of trouble, I fled Nichols for the greener pastures of Hildebrand. Looking back, it probably wasn't such a bad move.
Hildebrand Mall
Billeted at Hildebrand for nearly two weeks in mid to late March '07. I closely followed the fall of Nichols and approach of the 'Tour' on frequency 26.17. I finally left Hildebrand at approx. 02:00 GMT, on 26 March, 2007. At that time there were nearly 400 zeds in the building. I fought to the bitter end, being infected three times in my last 15 minutes there. Those where some damn big heroes. 'Cade, fight, heal!
Hildebrand was heroic, but is mall defense worthwhile? No hard location can survive either a moderately-sized, organised assault or a large, disorganised assault. Were the resources consumed to sustain Hildebrand ill spent?
Tynte Mall
I made my way to Tynte in short leaps as I had very few AP to work with and was forced to make frequent moves. Making it there without dying was sheer luck; there were zeds everywhere, no secure safe houses and I had no ammo. The fall of Tynte began almost as soon as I arrived - the 'Tour', after finishing with Hildebrand, had simply shifted it's attention northward.
More to follow.
