A heavily built-up slum, overshadowed by the gleaming Mockridge Cinema, and covered in gang graffiti.
History
Like Scudamore Road, McTier Grove and Finlay Boulevard, Ryan Grove's name bears witness to the 19th century influx of Irish immigrants into Malton's most typically Anglo-Saxon suburb. Like many other Irish exiles, these newcomers found themselves at the bottom of the heap, socially speaking: already poor and hungry, they faced hostility and discrimination at every turn, and occupied the fringes of the Village where they could eke out a simple living on the margins of society.
In time these immigrants were incorporated, if not assimilated, into the community. Some, like the notorious 'Fingers' Finlay, made a fortune through criminal means; most simply worked hard, scrimped and saved so that their children could have a brighter future, and left their names behind as a testament to their contribution to the Village and its increasingly multicultural story.
Nonetheless, these streets remain among the grittier areas of Foulkes Village, and are often home to more recent immigrants from other parts of the world now facing hardship: Bangladesh, Somalia, and Cleveland (both UK and US versions).
The Grove leads directly to the Dement Arms, where many of its pre-outbreak inhabitants used to drink themselves into a stupor. Nowadays many of the inhabitants are in a permanent stupor, as a result of Brain Rot.
