Bigger Numbers
Timestamp: | LumiReaver 16:53, 14 December 2007 (UTC) |
Type: | Improvement |
Scope: | Everything |
Description: | Bigger numbers. Just add a zero to the end of any number related to HP currently in the game. (So 500HP total, 100HP damage from a shotgun, ect) Why? So it's easier to add new items/attacks/ect.
Example: Wearable clothing could be given defensive properties that lower damage by a single point, which would be gamebreaking now, but with larger numbers wouldn't do much. |
Discussion (Bigger Numbers)
I like the general idea, except for the confusion as to XP for damage.. and having a counter going to 100 for HP, and 50 for AP might be confusing. Also, no to the example of wearing clothing lowering damage. Not everyone wants clothing cluttering their description. - Whitehouse 17:29, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Solutions to the XP problem:
- Fixed XP yield per weapon.
- XP yield is equal to weapon damage divided by ten then rounded to the nearest whole.
- All XP related numbers grow too, skills cost 1000, 1500, and 750.
- Thanks for picking up on that, I would have overlooked it. I'm not sure what you mean about confusing AP and HP, though... Another idea I just had, not directly related to this suggestion, but possible if this were to be implemented. If there were bigger numbers, the damage dealt could be decided by a variable. A shotgun shot could deal anywhere from 90, to 110 damage. Not all shots are spot on, right? --LumiReaver 18:36, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- The part about HP and AP being confusing was just that it would be nice if all counters went to the same total amount, but it really wouldn't be a problem. I'd go with option 1 or 3 for the XP problem. - Whitehouse 19:10, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
There is a suggestion similar to this is PR I think--CorndogheroT-S-Z 17:47, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes! Makes life easier. BoboTalkClown 03:33, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Seriously, with smaller numbers one point is completely game breaking. Larger numbers gives people much more room to play with. =] --LumiReaver 03:43, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay guys, I don't see any negative criticism... I assume it's okay then? --LumiReaver 19:29, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- I doubt this'll pass, too much "if it ain't broke..." mentality in the voters. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:59, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- I ain't the only one who sees the stupidity of this idea. Now, given that the numbers would be bigger, that's okay, but cloth armor? Everyone should get my drift, clothes only warm you up. If you want defensive covering, go for a flak jacket. Plus, if the clothing is really tore up, like all kinds of dirt and blood and all kinds of crap like that, if a bullet went in from one of those dirty parts, the victim would be infected. So it's sortof a nerf. Someone edit my comment if a nerf is something bad for zombies. Treviabot92 22:11, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Cloth armor isn't part of this suggestion. --LumiReaver 23:15, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Until your clan stops cheating, instant kill votes coming your way. - Pardus 22:17, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

- I see. I'll probably end up quiting, then. Anyway, what the hell, my affiliation with a clan shouldn't be enough to warrant a kill vote. --LumiReaver 12:07, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- No, no it shouldn't. That would be a matter to sort out in-game, leave it off the suggestions page please.--SeventythreeTalk 13:14, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Both wrong and right, suggestions page isn't the place, but it's not IC it is completely OOC. - Pardus 01:09, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

So yeah, if you step back and look at this suggestion you'll find that it does nothing on it's own. Honestly, I don't think you should just vote kill because of that. This isn't trying to change the game, it's trying to pave the way to future changes.
Some things that could be done:
- Variable damage: Let's say you fire a pistol, it could deal anywhere from 45, to 55 damage.
- Cloth armor: Wearable clothing could be assigned defensive properties, negating zero, to two points.
- (I called it cloth armor 'cause of what someone said in suggestions talk, haha)
- Diversity among melee weapons: Also with variable damage, some weapons could have wider ranges than others. Cool stuff.

For those of you who really hate the bigger numbers... What if there was a toggle you could switch to have 571HP show up as 57.1HP? Using fractions of a point was originally how I came up with this suggestion, but I leaned towards making the numbers bigger because it looked prettier. Or you know, alternatively, just use the decimal point. How it looks isn't as important as how it works, and what it adds to the game.
Just remember that voting kill condemns the idea entirely. If you believe that this has any potential for use at all I urge you to vote keep, even if it's conditional. --LumiReaver 21:16, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- For me, the vote is about getting this right, so that when Kevan sees it - there is a clear concensus from the community. I don't want large numbers, nor do I want decimal points. If you withdraw the suggestion for revision (which you can do), you can resubmit this suggestion today (you are only allowed to revise and resubmit 1 suggestion/day). --Ryiis 21:30, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
