Suggests and comments are welcome. -- Kschang 16:03, 3 Oct 2005 (BST)

  • Why are they called "meta-careers"? Seems to me that would be the RL career of the character's player.--LouisB3 20:25, 3 Oct 2005 (BST)
  • Because the "primary occupation" of the characters were their "classes", such as fireman, military private, etc. -- Kschang 18:03, 4 Oct 2005 (BST)
  • Also, the NecroTech skills are "meta-careers" more than barricading or scouting, since they give XP. Barricading/scouting are only real specializations when in a coordinated group, and no XP == dead-end character == not a "career".--LouisB3 02:35, 4 Oct 2005 (BST)
  • I agree, which is why I said those are "secondary" roles. As stated in the beginning, these are the careers that actively contributes to survival. NecroTech skills do not actively contribute to survival unless you want to RP, and thus, they didn't count here. -- Kschang 18:03, 4 Oct 2005 (BST)
  • If the goal is survival, then I agree that NecroTech employment is a lower level career. However, if people decide that the goal is to eradicate the plague entirely, revivification outranks elimination via combat. Surviving isn't winning; humans win when there are no more zombies. Maybe you could discuss the two lines of thinking and how both would be necessary to truly cleanse Malton. -- Maximillian Roivas
  • This expresses more clearly what I was getting at above. There's ultimately no such thing as "survival" - everyone will always be stuck in Malton, forever, moving freely between life and death. --LouisB3
  • I disagree about the statement that a loaded pistol is better than a clip. Example:

10 Loaded pistols: 60 rounds, 20 Spaces. 1 Loaded pistol, 9 clips: 60 rounds, 11 spaces. In 20 spaces, you can hold 114 rounds. The single AP used for reloading is the only arguement, and negligible. -Mark 02:26, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Zombie Metacareers

  • Another zombie meta career involving keeping important buildings under zombie control should be added. Adding hints for keeping specific types of buildings under control.
Ex. NT's have the survivor skills to spot NT buildings.
Other important skills and routines could be added for any building.
Ex. Ransack skill, sleeping inside the ransacked building to prevent it from being repaired.
Inspired by the approximate 20 zombies keeping Marven ransacked--Dedun 19:17, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Absolutely. The zombie meta-careers are still a work in progress- I've just been working on other projects. The "medical" field was just the first I wrote up. Others I;d planned to cover include:
  • Urban Development: ransacking and sleeping in buildings, area / resource denial. The Salt The Land Policy deserves special mention here.
  • Scouting and Espionage: either gathering info as a zombie, or intentionally getting revived and using Free Running
  • Leadership: using in game methods to co-ordinate zombie efforts (X:00 tactics come under this heading, but there's other ways to go.)
  • Education and Resource Development: spending all your AP's to take down barricades, groan, use feeding drag, and otherwise act in ways that maximize the experience the "younger" zombies earn and minimize the AP's they waste on barricades, wandering, etc.
  • Special Tactics and Operations: being part of a group that makes very highly co-ordinated, organized strikes, either on their own or as a "wedge" for a larger, less organized group.
If somebody else would like to cover one or more of these (or thier own idea), they should go ahead. I've been trying to keep the articles fun to read (the stuff down below for survivors is DRY) while still being informative and tactically innovative, and if we can achieve that for all the above concepts, it will be quite a nice article indeed! --S.Wiers X:00x-mas tree dead pool 19:41, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

lol the zombie meta-career guide is too short. It gives lots of xplanation in the medical field but the others were put through as if they weren't important.--Ratyoupop 10:26, 20 May 2009 (BST)5:25,20,May,2009

PKer Metacareers

Perhaps worth a shot under survivors? I'll write a couple, and see how they go. --Karloth Vois RR 20:17, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

No, I disagree. Possibly under Zombie metacareers, but not survivor. Because it's all about whose side you help. -Mark D. Stroyer 04:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Its a great idea, and Red Rum obviously has some expereince in this area, given that it divides its structure by meta-career already. I'd put PKer meta-carrers in their own section, if for not other reason than having a third author brings a third viewpoint, which would tend to make a third section read better.
But I tend to agree with Mark above; both zombies and PKers share the same main career (killing survivors) and many players do switch back and forth between the two modes. Similarly, if there were life cultist meta careers listed (unlikely, as it is such a simple job) then they would more logically count as survivor meta-careers than zombie ones. --S.Wiers X:00x-mas tree dead pool 11:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
