The zombies are advancing and soon all survivor groups will be unable to defend themselves against the zombie horde. I propose that we unite groups under one banner- the Sons of Liberty. Breach of Medical Defence Union copyright (!)
I had an email from the real-life Medical Defence Union a few days ago telling me that they own the copyright on this name, and that I should remove all unlicenced references from the Urban Dead website immediately. I pointed out that it was a single, fictional, non-profit web page that mentioned zombies a lot, and probably wasn't confusing or stealing any of their potential client base. And I thought that was the end of it, but they've now contacted the server host directly, threatening them with "liability" if the page remains up beyond today.
My legal knowledge doesn't really extend much further than this obviously seeming ridiculous, but I don't want to give my hosting company any hassles, or risk the game being shut down even temporarily. I've arbitrarily renamed this page to the "NecroTech Defence Union" for now - if a member of the group wants to pick a better name, feel free. And if anyone reading this knows more about the specifics of Internet copyright law, then give me a shout, I'd be interested to know where I stand on this sort of thing. --Kevan 15:29, 24 June 2006 (BST)
