Laptop Computers

Timestamp: Darkvengance 18:09, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Type: Item
Scope: Humans Only
Description: We should have laptops put into the game, make it so they are only found in tech. stores and you must be in a building with a generator to use them. Thy can have the same function as a cell phone except with live chat to other players. Where when users with a laptop use it they go into a chat room (can be a pop-up window) and chat with every other user that is using thier laptop. However since they will be chating it should take no AP but to join the chat(or turn on the computer) give it a high AP cost to make up for that. I believe this would be a great addition since every time I get on all the players near me are offline and I would like to ineract with some of the players in real time every once in a while.

  2. Spam - Use radios if you wanna spam the place with randon chit-chat.--Mr yawn Scotland flag.JPG 19:05, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
  3. Spam this is where the DHPD just kinda assume they exist and run from there...All the database suggestions are interesting but we use our Wiki pages for that kind of information and just assume anyone who uses that information has some way of getting to it either a laptop, PDA, or terminal. for us its incorporating as much of the meta-game into the game as possible. ...every time I get on all the players near me are offline and I would like to ineract with some of the players in real time every once in a while.' And just how would this laptop get someone who is NOT ONLINE to interact with you?--Pesatyel 01:48, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Well said, Pesatyel. And can anyone spell server overload? -- Ashnazg 0451, 26 November 2006 (GMT)

Radios do the same thing, with one exception: they cost 1 AP per message. You mention forcing people to spend AP when they log on but not when sending messages. That's going to create a LOT of spamming. Who would send an important message (which would most likely be short and to the point, as important messages need to be able to read and understood immediately) by this method, if they would have to spend a lot of AP to log on but nothing to send their message (which would end up making radios more AP efficient). This would be nothing but a spam machine, because radio spammers are the only people who would use this. --Reaper with no name TJ! 19:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

??? How is it a SPAM machine, you have to choose to use it and one would assume that anyone choosing to 'log on' would not consider it spam... Of course its still a bit pointless for anyone who uses the wiki but then not everyone does. Maybe a dedicated chat-room would serve the same purpose?--Honestmistake 16:40, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
