Project Status: Complete!

Project CP is an UDWiki project which involves the replenishment of the Community Portal in all its forms.

By the end of October 2008, the Community Portal and its news templates had not been updated for over a year, some as long as 15 months. In terms of general housekeeping and obsessive perfectionism, this is a grand no-no for an UDWiki page.

As a result of this, Project CP aims to restore the Community Portal to its former glory and allow it to be useable by the UD community once more. It has nothing to do with CP of the illegal kind. Sorry to those who were otherwise interested.

The Goals of Project CP

The members undertaking this project have 4 following aims to ensure the success and accessibility of the Community Portal in the future:

• Recoding
• Updating
• Replacing
• Maintaining

How does one join Project CP?

If, like most males on the UDWiki, you find the sound of Project CP disturbingly appealing, then just drop a line on the talk page or contact DanceDanceRevolution for some tasks. However, don't go thinking this is a job of glory, fame and wealth. Most of the tasks are monotonous, so make sure you're in it for the long haul.

Tasks

Recode- done!

The simple truth is, the reason the news templates on the Community Portal stopped being updated was because of its terrible coding. It was simply too tasking to add one single news update, because it involved the modification of every previous report on the template. As a result, it is necessary to recode all news templates so this is not needed anymore, similar to the {{Wiki News}} code that uses {{Template:NBox}} rather than the difficult {{Template:NewsBox}}.

The following news templates need this recoding:

• Mod Conspiracy - 11:15, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Update - done!

All the news templates need to be updated to present-day standards. This will be a pain because they are all either defunct or months old.

Updates are needed for:

• Projects- 05:43, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Update: page UDWiki:News needs revitalising also. 6 months of UDWiki news has been archived and therefore saved for the future forever! Let future generations learn from our mistakes! 06:27, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Replace - done!

Some sections of the Community Portal have been defunct for a year and need replacing with either more recent projects, or new news templates.

• Urban Dead Lexicon -replaced with a news template of Current In-Game Events in the game of UD. 05:37, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

• Necronet is also long defunct. We need some sort of community content to replace this section of the Community Portal.

Maintain!!

When all the work is done, maintainance of the Community Portal will be the only task necessary. This includes two main weekly/monthly tasks:

• Updating the news templates when needed
• Updating the 'Community Announcements' template at the top of the page when needed.
